Hi, Brenda. I checked the 1850 KY census, and can't find your Martin in Harrison Co. I did find a Marcus, 7 years old, son of George A. King as follows: 1850 Harrison County, KY, census, 19 Jul 1850, District 1 22 22 George A. King 38 m tanner 300 Ky Ann 34 f KY John 15 m Ky Erwin? 8 m Ky in school Marcus 7 m Ky Ann 4 f Ky Addison 2 m Ky (a George King m. Sarah Garrett in Harrison Co, KY, 11 June 1829 - possibly an earlier marriage before Ann?) There were no Havicus families in the state of KY in 1850 nor in Harrison in 1880, according to census data. However, a Clemens Havens m. Elizabeth James in Scott Co, KY, 17 Feb 1843. In 1850, we find Clemens Havercriste in Scott Co, KY: 1850 Scott Co, KY, 17 Sept 1850, District 2 782 782 Clemens Havercriste 35 m farmer 500 Germany Elizabeth 29 f Ky Peter 6 m Ky Mary E. 4 f Ky Frances 1 f Ky living next door to Frances Jones 783 783 Frances Jones 57 f 1100 VA Dorcas 22 f Ky George 18 m farmer Ky Thomas Wells 22 m laborer Ky and 784 784 William Jones 26 m farmer 550 Ky Eliza 20 f Ky Nelson 5 m Ky Ferdinand 3 m Ky Elizabeth 2 f Ky and several other Jones families a few homes further away. Hope this helps! Lori
The reprint of Perrin's book speaks of the Catholic church in Cynthian on pp. 294, 297. When the book was published in 1882 it says there were "about one hundred and twenty families, and thus contains about six hundred sould. Those families are principally of German and Irish nationality, not very unequal in number, though quite a number of them reside beyond the city limits. Thus, by census, there are at present in town only thirty five German voters, and twenty-four Irish voters, and the German population is estimated at one hundred and forthy-four, the Irish at one hundred and twenty, within the city limits. "By one of their number we are favored with the following statement: The first Catholic services in Harrison County were held in Broadwell's Meeting house, on the Ruddel's Mills pike by Father Kroeger, from Holy Trinity Church, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1849." Someone with better eyes and typing ability than I have can copy the entire p. 297 for our inquirer. Hello Harrison County List, I am looking for information on the following people;any help is appreciated. My great grandfather, Martin V. or D. King was born in Harrison Co., Ky in 1843;he married a lady named Mary Elizabeth Havicus sometime between 1863 to 1865. They had 11 children during their 47 year marriage. I don't know the name of Martin's father, but would like to;the name of Mary Elizabeth Havicus's father was Chales Havicus-this information was found on her death certificate; it states that Chales was born in Germany, but not where. He had to have come here in the early 1800's, but not sure just when. Chales married a kentucky born lady named Elizabeth Jones;Elizabeth was born in Scott Co., Ky;I do not know yet who her parents were. Can anybody help?

Hello, Can anyone tell me if there was a Catholic Church in Cynthiana Ky. in 1861? If so, how could I get records? Thanks, Janet
Hi I would like to exchange info. with anyone working on the Cook---Baldwin---Price--- Stevens/Stephens----and Lynn/Linn families who were in Owen---Harrison and Scott Counties very early. I have been working on these families for over 20 years and have much info. but still need bits and pieces. Janet
Marsha, There were also a number of these western Harrison Co. families that moved to Gallatin Co., KY between 1816 and 1840. Fred Some of the >PAVEYs did own land at Mill Creek. It has recently been suggested (we've >found VERY little on the PAVEYs in Harrison Co.) that Scott Co. records >should be checked. Has anyone ever researched these records for their >Harrison Co. people?
Good Morning, I've been following with interest these correspondences and have a couple of questions and comments: Could these McNUTTs have also been originally from the MD/DE area (mid-1700's) and the spelling also been McNATT? The ISGRIG family came from Baltimore Co, MD to Harrison Co abt. 1791, and a branch of my PAVEY family (from Caroline Co, MD) came sometime also between 1790 - 1800. Some of the PAVEYs did own land at Mill Creek. It has recently been suggested (we've found VERY little on the PAVEYs in Harrison Co.) that Scott Co. records should be checked. Has anyone ever researched these records for their Harrison Co. people? Does anyone know if the BERRYs have been researched, as there were BERRYs in MD/DE also who could have migrated? Since so many of our families spill over into Pendleton County, I thought the listers might wish to know that Pendleton County now has its own list and an upgraded website. Pat
Will of Jedediah Pullen Bourbon Co Ky Wife Betsy. Sons John, James, Thomas; daughters Sinah wife of Issac Clinkenbeard, Betsy wife of Richard Smart, Polly wife of Asa Foster, Sarah wife of Zachariah Fegan. May 1809 proved July 1811. Wit Geo Case, Wm Pullen, Samuel Levescue. Sinah m Issac Clinkenbeard 1788 Bourbon Co KY, Polly m Asa Foster 1791 Bourbon Co KY. I don't have the exact ages but the boys were all on the 1800 tax list for Bourbon Co but not before so they were 21 by then. In 1810 Thomas and James were listed with their families and even Sarah who I think was the youngest was married living with her husband. I haven't found the marriages recorded for the other children but the .Will gives the husbands for the girls and I have the wife of James, Agatha McClanahan. John is not on the 1810 Bourbon Co Census so he may have died or moved to another county. The wife listed on the Will is a second wife and not the mother of the children. She was Elizabeth Grigsby Fagan widow of James Fagan and mother of Zachariah Fegan. The Feagan gets spelled a lot of ways but it comes down in my line as Feagan. I hope this helps. Carolyn Kent

We just appreciate you for what you do. No one is perfect, after all. We ALL appreciate you handling the re-publishing and distribution of the Perrin book. And we ALL appreciated the recent postings on the Cynthiana Christian Church history. So we'll take it easy on you for this ONE little boo-boo. Bill Webber Somerville, NJ
To one and all, I apologize for goofing up a little in my previous posting of the Christian Church of Cynthiana. I accidently skipped from #8 to #10 in my mailings. Some of you have requested post #9 but it does not exist. #9 was mailed as #10. Sorry about that! Hi, I will be looking at issues of the "Cynthiana Democrat" and the "Log Cabin" for the periods of 1936-1939, 1950-51, and 1953. If anyone has an obit, marriage announcement, or other dated item that they would like, I would be willing to look it up and copy it for a very small fee. I will be looking at the microfilm until Monday, but no further, so if you have a request, please make it by Saturday night, so that I may have time to respond to you before Monday morning. Philip Naff.
We are at the final stages of preparation for an exhibit that opens to the public Sunday afternoon. It will be up for a month, so many of you may want to come to Georgetown to check it out. The invitation is posted at: http://members.aol.com/scottcomuseum/invitation.htm Some of the pictures are of places in Central Kentucky counties that have changed immensely in the 80 or more years since the pictures were taken by Eugene A.
