She was my favorite aunt and my Mother, Maudie Nell BROWN TAYLOR b. 1915; d. 2002 were quite close and talked most every day in their later years. Now all of that generation is gone with the exception of a widow, Clara GASTIGER BROWN, widow of Howard BROWN, a brother. Aunt Fannie's father, Samuel Roscoe BROWN b. 1880 in Harlan Co., KY was the s/o Zion Bailey BROWN and wife, Easter BLAIR BROWN. He traced back to John BROWN married to Rebecca BAILEY BROWN and further to William BROWN b. abt. 1804 married to Mary KELLY BROWN of Lee Co., VA who came into Harlan Co. and later to Letcher Co., KY. Aunt Fannie's mother, Sarah Elizabeth CREECH b. 1881 in Harlan Co. was a dau. of John Major CREECH and Deborah Lynn SERGENT, dau. of William "Martin" SERGENT and Elizabeth Ann HOWARD SERGENT. Every time I was able to go visit in OH I spent time with Aunt Fannie. She was a very special lady that everyone loved. When I was there this past September for the family reunion and my 50th class reunion, I was able to visit with Aunt Fannie on two occasions. I will miss her very much.
