Lynch was a mining town owned by U.S. Steel. Benham and Cumberland are sister cities that, also, were mining towns at the foot of Black Mtn. You should find a wealth of information about these tri-cities and their mining past on the internet and in written material. The towns were rich in diversity, employing workers from various areas of the country, as well as people from Italy, Poland and other countries around the world. Quite a few of the descendants live in the area today. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
