Hello: I am working on the Day's of Harlan County, KY and according to the 1850 Harlan County, KY census Daniel Garrett and Salina "Day?" list three children. John Garrett 4 b. VA (1844) William Garrett 3 b. KY (1845) Nancy Garrett 7/12 b. KY (1846) If we go by the popular English naming patterns it would suggest that Daniel Garretts father was John Garrett. Salina's father was William Day? And her mother Nancy Day? If anyone has a theory here please let me know. However, I am having some trouble with this theory because in 1840 Nancy Day has 3 males u/5, 1 male 10-14, 1 female u/5, and 1 female 10-14. Some children would be missing, added or this is just "wrong". 1830 Harlan County Census lists William Day 2 males 0-4 1 male 5 -9 1 male 15 -19 1 male 40 -49 1 female 0-4 1 female 5 -9 1 female 30 -39 (Nancy Day?) Sincerely, Sherry R. Huff
