This James was born in 1865 or thereabouts. This James METCALF and Flora CREECH METCALF were the parents of Minnie/Arminia, etc. METCALF. For Minnie, I have this: 1900 Newton Co., Arkansas - Pleasant Hill Township Dwelling 125-132 METCALF, James, 35, head, b. 3-1865, mar. 16 yrs, b. kY; father b. NC; mother b. KY (my CONFUSION!) . .Flora, 35, b. 3-1868, mar. 16 yrs, 4 born; 2 living, b. kY; parents b. KY (dau. of D. B. CREECH & Nancy METCALF) . .Arminta J., 12, dau, b. 3-1889, 12, b. KY * * . .William H., 9, b. March 1891, b. Arkansas NOTE: From the personal family stories of William R. NOE of Oliver Springs, TN at: [email protected] "we had a family member tell us that my grandmother's (Armina "Minnie" METCALF NOE b. approx. 3-30-1884 or 1886 parents's were a James METCALF and Fiona CREECH. We were told that Minnie came to Harlan KY in a covered wagon from the Ozarks. . . . " By the time of the 1910, Flora/Flory CREECH shows up as a divorced female at Dwelling 119 - 1910 Harlan Co. Fed. Census with Willie METCALF, age 16 and single and a granddau, Ella MADDEN, age 4 b. KY, said to be the daughter , Ella/Ellen b. 1905, born to Arminta/Minnie METCALF who married 4 times and who had this child with the William "Bill" MADDEN, Minnie's 2nd husband. I would appreciate any insight anyone has as to who this particular James METCALF's, b. abt. 1865, parents were.
