We have found out the following regarding Minnie's line through Joyce Collins' research: As of the 1900 Census, Newton County, Arkansas - Pleasant Hill Township: Dwelling 125-132 METCALF, James, age 35, born March 1865; married 16 years; born in Kentucky; his father born in North Carolina; mother born in Kentucky; occupation - Farmer Flora, age 35, wife, born March 1868, married 16 years, children born is 4; only 2 children living; she was born in Kentucky; her parents born in Kentucky .....Arminta J., age 12, daughter, born March 1889, born in Kentucky .....William H., age 9, born March 1891, born in Arkansas Note: This would mean they left KY after the birth of Arminta J. in March 1889. They were in Arkansas at the bith of William H. who was born in March 1891. (Joyce states that there were NO 1890 Federal Cencus to view) Joyce was also able to locate where Isom Noe and Armania were in the 1910 Bell County at the ages of 26 and 24, and had been married 1 year, and had a son named Elijah and he was 4 months old. Isom and Minnie, ages 48 and 44 are found in the Harlan County Kentucky Census of 1930. Here's some more information on our great-grandmother Flora (not Fiona) that we found. >From the 1870 Harlan County KY Census: Dwelling 23-23 CREECH, Daniel B., 30, born KY, (son of Thomas and Celia HARRISON CREECH; married (2) Cordelia BREWER, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary BLEVINS BREWER; 1st marriage in Harlan Co. in 1857 Nancy, 28, wife, born in North Carolina; daughter of Barbara METCALF ....Selah, 12, daughter, born KY; born on March 28, 1858 (per HC VS's; marriage recorded in 1875 in Harlan Co. to James TURNER ....Florry, 8, daughter, born KY; (sometimes this can be short for Florence) ....Mary, 6, born in KY ....William,4, born in KY Then Joyce found the following in the same Census info on James Metcalf and Anna. Dwelling 24-24 METCALF, James, 31, born in North Carolina (son of Barbara Metcalf; married 1857 in Harlan County). Anna, 31, born KY (Daughter of Thomas Creech) ....Ruthie, 12, daughter, born in KY on July 22, 1858 (per Harlan Vital Stats; died Dec. 20, 1941; married Moses Brewer who is the son of Jeremiah and Mary Blevins Brewer. ....John, 10, born KY; married in 1890 to Sarah Jane Creech in Harlan Co. ....Sarah, 8, born in KY We learned some things about Minnie that we didn't know a few days ago. We have found her names to change from Armania, Armina, Armintia, Minta, Minnie, Nannie, and Mam. She was married 4 times and here's who they were: 1st marriage was to William S. Smith and they were married in James Metcalf's house on August 13, 1902. 2nd marriage was to Will Madden (unsure of date of marriage/divorce), but Minnie's 1st child was born named Ellen (called Ella in the Census). 3rd marriage was to Isom Noe sometime in 1908 or 1909, because they show up in the 1910 Harlan Co. Census having been married for 1 year.) 4th marriage was to William Thomas Liles. Mr. Liles is also my husband's grandfather on this mother's side. So his dad's mom (Minnie), was married to his mother's dad, Tom. Joyce found in the 1910 Harlan Co., Little Laurel Dwelling 119 CREECH, Flory, 41, divorced, born KY; parents born KY (returned to her maiden name)[remember she married James Metcalf] ....METCALF, Willie, son, age 16, single, born in KY (but this is wrong because he was born in Arkansas on March 1891) ....MADDEN, Ella, granddaughter, age 4 (Armintia/Minnie's child with Mr. Madden) We are beginning to piece together our relatives. These are the children as we have found them: ....Ellen (Ella) Madden, born June 28, 1905 (went by Noe) born to Will Madden and Minnie Metcalf Smith Madden The Following are Children by Isom and Minnie: ....Elijah, born December 4, 1909 ....William Henry, born December 30, 1911 ....James Frank, born August 19, 1913 ....Oscar, born December 3, 1915 ....Dora, born January 18, 1918 ....Robert, born March 27, 1920 ....Dewey, born July 20, 1922 ....Berrie (Berry), born March 17, 1924 ....Isom II, born June 6, 1926 (possibly died at birth or a little after) ....Lucy May, born May 8, 1927 (died as a toddler or a little after) ....Birthie (Bertha), born August 2, 1928 ....David, born September 4, 1931 [all these birthdates were given to me (Teresa B. Noe) by Ann Noe (wife to David Noe), which she read out of Minnie's bible] Most of these Noe children, and Ellen are buried in the Oliver Springs Cemetery. Regarding ISOM NOE: His father was WIlliam Noe and mother was Anna Harris. We have their wedding certificate dated July 2, 1880. We know that she later married a Carlow (Carlo) Short and was widowed when the 1910 Census was taken and reads as follows: Dwelling 97-2-2 SHORT, Robert, age 16, Head of House, born in KY, occupation: Farmer Annie (Anna), widow, mother; 10 children born, 5 Living; born in KY ....Dora, age 12, sister, born in KY ....Bessie, age 9, sister, born in KY ....George, age 8, brother, born in KY Edwards, Raymond, age 2, nephew, born in KY (unsure of parents) NOE, Isom, age 26, Boarder, 1st marriage, married 1 year, born in KY; parrents born in KY; occupation - coal miner Armania (Minnie), age 24, Boarder, 1st marriage, married 1 year, born in KY; parents born in KY ....Elijah, age 4 months, son, born 12-4-1904; born in KY Isom Noe had these half-brothers/sisters, but we haven't confirmed if he has other siblings. Note that with Annie Short's information line, she states that she has had 10 children, but only five living. This would confirm that Isom, Robert, Dora, Bessie, and George are her only surviving children. I don't know of any other names. If anyone can give us some more information we'd appreciate it. We are in the process of putting what we've found in our Family Tree Maker. Thanks everyone -- Terea Bunch Noe (daughter-in-law of William "Bill" Henry Noe) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
