Elizabeth Betty SERGENT, daughter of James H. SERGENT and Elizabeth WYNN married Jonah L. SHELTON from NC Perhaps my Uncle James E. EVANS never had a child out of wedlock. That may be why no records can be found! He can no longer defend himself against rumors since he died last year. Records or not, my Aunt Sylvia Jewel BALL was born August 5, 1921. She and uncle Jimmy's first child, James Thomas EVANS died when he was about 8 months old. He is buried at the Ages, Brookside cemetery in the same family plot as his grandparents, Silas M.
