In the Harlan CC 1860 Benjamin Howard 38 M KY Lucy 36 F KY James 8 M KY John 5 M KY HENRY 3 M KY Easter Wilson 73 F KY (Mother of Lucy) In the Bell CC 1870 Benjamin Howard 48 M KY Lucy 46 F KY John 13 M KY (1857) ELHANNON 11 M KY (1869) Caroline 9 F KY (1871) Jasper 7 M KY (1863) Joshua 2 M KY Based on the above census I DO NOT BELIEVE that Elhanon Henry Howard son of Benjamin and Lucy is the father of your grandfather Benjamin Franklin Howard nor is he the husband of Jane Alifair Howard. My reason is that Elhanon Howard son of Ben and Lucy is 3 years old in 1860 and 11 years old in 1870. Based on the Census below I believe YOUR Elhanon (EL) is he son of: James G. El's father James Garrett Howard died when EL was only 10 years old. So probably grandfather was his fater figure.
