Here are a couple of more tidbits from my afternoon at the Salisbury, NC library. These items are from the very early records of Virginia. I believe they were from the predecessor counties of Patrick and later Henry counties. Phyllis p. 78 Will of Abraham Childers, planter To son Abraham Childers, 1 shilling To son Henry Childers, 1 shilling and items. To loving wife Anne, all goods and chattels, and ½ of land where I now live, with all houses, etc. for life, and then to my son Philemon Childers. If he dies without heirs, then to my son John Childers. To son Henry Childers, the other ½ of my land at 21, and if he die then to my son Roberts children. Wife Anne to be executrix Dated 6 Dec 1693 Wit: Richard Franklin, Abigall Wakefield, John Newcombe Recorded 1 June 1698 January Court 1739 P. 95 Thomas Perkins granted administration of estate of his father William Perkins; Richard Randolph, Gent., security Edward Cox, John Stuart, Thomas Branch and William Fuller to appraise estate. Wills, etc. P.1822 Will of Thomas Perkins To wife, feather bed and mare To son William, a mare, saddle and bridle To son John, 1 negro All the rest sold to pay debts and divide the remainder among children Wife Leusey and Jesse Burton to be executors . Dated 16 Oct 1761 Wit: George Cox, George Rabon, Richard Dean No probate date given.
