The history of Harlan Co., KY covers the period from 1819 to the present time, close to 200 years!. You would be wise to return to your original query and make a response to it in which you add in a few more specific facts regarding your needs For example, are you searching in the 1800's, the 1900's or what? It could be important for someone helping you to know if you are searching for parents, grandparents or g-grandparents or whatever. If you have a few names that you already know and some idea of approximately when they were born or lived, that would be helpful too. Most of these families one could write books about so when your request is too broad, people tend to ignore the request. And, the request can be ignored when there is absolutely NO TIMELINE or name/s provided by the query writer. When I think of the surname, JARVIS, I do not particularly think of Harlan Co. There were many JARVIS families in Knox Co., KY, however, from before 1850 forward. Just a quick look at a few census records tells me there were NO JARVIS families in Harlan Co. probably at least past 1910.
