She is enumerated in her parents household as Jane age 4 in the 1860 census and Martha J age 14 in the 1870 where the marriage took place a few months later. Her parents were Elijah and Nancy Helton. James Blanton s/o John and Nancy Caldwell Blanton married Martha J Simpson in Harlan County KY on 07 Feb 1860. She is enumerated in her parents household as Martha age 10 in the 1850 census. 1860 census finds James and Martha Blanton without issue, having been married just a few months. John Blanton and William Blanton were brothers being sons of William Blanton and Susannah Brock. James and Jesse were first cousins.
