    1. Roll Call
    2. I am researching Howard, Johnson, Blevins, Roark, Parsons and others but here is my brick wall. In 1840 census is Charlotte Johnson living alone, but she lives right next door to Rice Whitaker Johnson and his wife, Phoebe Cumile Howard. Charlotte is under 20 yrs old. Rice and Phoebe are between 20 and thirty. I figure he is in his early 20s and Charlotte is probably his sister. Some of the family believes she may be a daughter of Martin Saylor and married a Johnson but the only trace I ever find of a husband for her is that one of her sons (Phillip) listed his father as Isaac Johnson on one of his marriage licenses. I don't think so. Anyway, Charlotte had Sylvania abt 1844, Nancy M. b.abt 1845 m Silas Woodson Saylor (1837-1920) Robert L. b. abt 1849 m. Rutha Jackson (1849-1923) Phillip b. abt 1851- d after 1922 Perry b. abt 1855 (he moved to Whitley Co with the Duane Leforce family before he was even 10 yrs old) Carolina b. abt 1858 Richard Mack (1861-1935) On Richard Mack Johnson's death certificate the parents are listed as Philip Slusher and 'Scotty' Johnson. This would be Philip Slusher (b 1827. s/o John & Mary Woolum Slusher & h/o Rachel Daniel). I suspect that he is the father of Charlotte's last 4 children and maybe all of them. The last time I can find Charlotte is in the 1870 Harlan census with Robert, Phillip (Johnson), Carolina & Richard. Philip Slusher moved to MO with his wife. I wonder if Charlotte moved there also. So where is she buried? Who were her parents? Was she RW's sister? Was she ever married? Did Philip Slusher go to MO to get away from her? Did she follow him/did he take her willingly? Well Elva, you did ask about brick walls! Joyce Shannon Zandri
