I am thrilled to know you knew Onie Gibson and his family. I only recall seeing Onie a couple times in the 1950's. I remember my dad saying Ruby was good at baking and decorating cakes. Onie was the first cousin of my maternal grandmother. In fact, I think they were double cousins. I believe Onie's parents were James Madison "Matt" and Mary Frances "Fannie" Dozier Gibson. I have dates for Matt and his place of burial, but nothing for Fannie. I believe she passed away as a young woman. My great-grandparents were William "Bill" and Ida Belle Gibson Dozier. I would like to locate William Dozier's death record and get the certificate. He passed away in Harlan Co. on Oct. 8, 1955. I am fascinated by your site and will be returning to it I'm sure. My dad worked for the Black Star Coal Co. at Alva, KY. My parents lived at Alva when I was born in June of 1946. They had bought a little farm near Cobin and we moved there that fall. However, Dad continued to work in the mine until 1960. He remained a strong union man until his death. My son and I visited the Lincoln Tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfied, IL back in July. John L. Lewis is also buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery. I wish I had visited his grave in honor of Dad. While I have lived in IN for 45 years now, the hills and mountains of KY still have a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for the info on Onie Gibson and his family. I do remember hearing that Onie and Ruby moved to IN back in the 1960's. However, I have no idea where in IN. I live about an hour from Indianapolis. It wasn't anywhere near here. I believe Onie passed away sometime in the 60's from complications of diabetes. Any other info will be be appreciated. If any of Onie and Ruby's family can be located, I would like to get in contact with them. Larry W. Branstutter
