Margaret Eliza BALL, who married Dr. Granville Pearl BAILEY, was their daughter. I think they had a second daughter who was listed in the 1880 census as Ruthia, but I think that was the enumerator's interpretation of the name, Jerusha. I do not know what happened to Jerusha after the 1880 census. She may have died in childhood or married before the 1900 census, but my entire family always thought that Margaret Eliza was an only child until I looked at the 1880 census entry. Emily (Skidmore) BALL used her maiden name in 1880 and probably had divorced William Martin BALL by that time. William Martin BALL deserted her, fled to TX, re-married in 1876, and raised a second larger family in TX and later, in OK. I communicate with a grandson of William Martin BALL and his second wife, and he has shared information on that family branch. William Martin BALL told his second wife and her family that th! e two children were "deaf and dumb". Interestingly, Margaret Eliza BALL was a schoolteacher when she met and later married Dr. Granville Pearl BAILEY. I am going to assume you are new at family research. Next time remember to include some dates (even if approximate) with your query. Otherwise, it becomes quite difficult to establish a timeline on these queries. You don't say when or where you were born so I have not attempted to ascertain that. There are several Charles/Ambroses and there are several Carl D. HENSLEYs. If you don't have any genealogy software, I would highly suggest you run out and get somewhere Family Treemaker (which I use) or some other software so that you can begin with yourself, your spous, your childen, your parents, your grandparents and all of their respective siblings and spouses along the way. From there you can document and work yourself backwards. I spent a bit of time researching and it would appear your family history looks like this. Please write to me directly so that I have the complete name and address where the kit should be sent. If you live close by and wish to supervise this, I can mail it to you. In order to get the special reduced price for th 37 marker kit, they had to have the money/credit card processed by Dec. 31st. Anyway, again it is already set into motion. I just need to hear from you so we can get the kit to your grandfather. I am having them mail the kit to me (since I didn't have your address) and I will forward it on as soon as it arrives. Looking forward to hearing from you and "Happy New Year" and a great big "thank you" to your grandfather. Am assuming he is the 6 year old on the 1930 census in Lee Co., VA with his parents and other siblings. He is Ray or perhaps Raymond. Hi, I am researching my mother's family. My mother's name was Jessie Lee Totten, DOB 12/15/1919. I have no information on her father. Her mother's name was Ida Bell Turner and she married after my mother was born to a Emery Herscle Rose from Sparta, VA. They were married 8/9/1924 with a Grub and Bird as witnesses . Ida Bell's parents were W. H. Turner, DOD 5/18/1944, Big Laurel, KY and Suzanna Turner, DOD 11/23/1937. Her father's parents were R. N. Turner, DOB 1861, DOD 2/18/1907 and Judy Turner, DOB 1862, DOD: 6/16/1927. Ida Bell's mother's parents were John D. Smith and Leah Huff. Any information anyone could provide would be great. In fact I was thinking about you this morning and wondering if maybe he had backed out. It will be nothing for you to worry about or him. I know I will need to get his specific address and name from you. Write me at: joycetcollins@cs.com I will contact the TAYLOR DNA Group and order the kit to be mailed directly to him.Assuming you live close, you can see to it that he follows their swab instructions and that the kit gets returned to them.If takes several weeks before you hear back. What I can also do is have them include your e-mail address so that when his test results come back, you will be able to see and compare them to.
