I am interested to know if you or anyone has found the parents of Joseph Benjey. For a number of years I have searched for my gr gr grandmothers(Margaret Howard 2nd wife of John R. Baldwin) family. John R. Baldwin was 1st married to Rebecca Howard in abot 1848. They had 3 children and she died. John R. next married Rebecca's sister- Margaret Howard. After finding Margaret death cert. I learned her father was John F. Howard and unknown on cert. but found that his wife was Elizabeth Mark. In searching census records ect. I found John F.Howard was s/o John N.Howard and Susannah Flannery. John N. s/o Samuel Howard and Chloe Osborne- of Harlan Co., Ky. Looking for Elizabeth Mark, found she was d/o Samuel Mark and 2nd wife Sarah Catherine Benjey. Sarah being d/o Joesph Benjey and Elizabeth Rollins/Rawlins. This would make Joseph Benjey and Elizabeth Rollins/Rawlins my 5th gr grandparents. There has been some confusing/ bad info on Rebecca b.1828, the d/o John F.Howard and Elizabeth Mark. Most people have her married to David Farmer, which is not correct. The Rebecca Howard that married (1820) David Farmer was b. 1805 and was the d/o John N. Howard and Susannah Flannery, making her the aunt of Rebecca and Margaret Howard who married John R. Baldwin. Would love to know more on Joseph Benjey. Any info would be appreciated! Thank You, Judith Campbell, (nee Baldwin) thejcoriginal@aol.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Audrey said that her father's name is Virgil Roark and he is from Hulen. My grandmother was Docia Cathleen Roark Johnson (1887-1922), daughter of James Blevins Roark and Catharine Varilla Parsons Roark. Docia's husband was Lee Finley Johnson (1885-1921) and in the newspaper report of his death it said he was 'sent back to Hulen' for burial. It seems more than likely that Virgil is family, I'm just trying to figure out how we are related. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I noticed that you have a relative named Mary Green, possibly with a child named Gillis? My great-grandfather was named Gillis Green, born in Pineville in 1882. He left to join the Army after working for a time as a coal miner. I have no further information on any relative's names, or anything. I guess I'm hoping "Gillis" is a family name, maybe Mary named her son after a brother or uncle, or--? Thank you for your help.
