But here's a new question - on these early death certificates it lists "place of burial or removal" (which is were I found Murna written). Place of burial is obvious, but what exactly is meant by "removal"? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Rennick, that gives the names of "supposedly" all the old post offices and the areas they served. There is a "Myra" Kentucky here, and it says this P.O. was located on US 23/119 and Shelby Creek, at the mouth of Beefhide Creek, 12 and one half miles south of Pikeville in Pike County. That is as close as it gets. There is no Murna, KY listed. Looks to be around the Dorton area, since that is in paretheses beside it, or else it is also called Dorton. Don't think they had any close ties outside of the tri-state Cumberland Gap area, so it doesn't make sense for it not to be around there. By the way, my Mothers maiden name was Brock and her Father (Drexel) was from Pineville - Magnet Holler I think. Brothers Noah, Ed and I think James and sister Fanny who married a Stewart. Their parents were John and Elssie (not sure of the spelling) Brock. Any relation to your Brocks? I have just started looking on the Brock side and don't have much information. According to Rootsweb town search website there is not a town Murna. This is a good site if you want to know what county a town is in. It is listed as the "place of burial or removel" on the death certificate of my grandmothers brother who died at the age of 4 in Sept 1922 in Harlan. But we were always told that he was buried in Lee County Virginia on property they purchased in April 1922. I know he worked for the Mary Helen Coal Corp. and they lived in Coalgood for several years, but can't find Murna on any map.
