    1. Killing of William Tipton Morris in Harlan KY in 1877
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Clarkston, Clark, Morris Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3AB.2ACI/6773 Message Board Post: I am looking for anyone that might have a few details to add to this story. On 5 Feb 1877, Thomas Hiram "Harmon" Clark killed his nephew, William Tipton Morris, son of Lucinda Clarkston and Allen Morris. According to the Harlan County death records, Tipton Morris “died from a stabbing after killing a married man”. Oral tradition in the Clarkston family is that Harmon was sent to prison for the killing of a relative over a cup of salt. Harmon Clark is missing from Harlan County tax rolls between 1876 and 1880, with his wife Nancy listed on the rolls in 1880. Harmon then appears consistently on the Harlan Tax rolls from 1881 on. These records tend to support the tradition that Harmon spent some time in prison for the killing of his nephew. It appears from the death record of William Tipton Morris, that he first killed another man. Who is that other man? What other facts or details does anyone have regarding this story?

She said she met Ron Collier in the grocery the other day and he was all excited because he had been to an old cemetary in the mountains just at the Harlan Co./Letcher Co./ line and found this cemetary on Lewis Creek which had a headstone with Wilson Lewis name on it. (John Jarrett Lewis' 12-15-1790 dad). The cemetary is in Harlan County, but close to the Letcher County line. She thought you would be interested, as I am, to hear this
