    3. Darlene; This is the date that is listed in the Harlan Co., KY Marriage Register and also the date given in Chockley's Pension Application. 3. The fact that Boyd King's wife is named Lavinia and Chockley lists a child Levina but leaves out Boyd in his Pension Application makes me wonder if he was confused and listed the daughter-in-law or if there was also a daughter named Levina. Birthdate for Levina is given as 19 Sep 1874. Of course, someone else filled out the application. I have not found where Chockley ever knew how to write. The dates given for the children's births DO NOT match the dates given in the school census the year previous. I would have to pull both records and compare them. but most have the same birth month and year just different days for the births. Chockley King is still alive in 1910 and living in Everts but died before the census. Offey King and Ella King Tomlinson with Ella's 2 children are in Chockley's home and listed as married which is an error by the emumerator. They took care of Chockley in his final days according to the letter written to the Pension Board by Offey King after Chockley's death. 3. The 1900Harlan Co Census shows: in HH 307Boyd King and HH308 Chockley King one would assume he was son of Chockley by this Census but the Page before had a lot of Kings on it also HH 307 Boyd King b- May 1874 in own HH with Wife Lavinia md 6 yrs and two children one son Daniel and daug age 3 can't make out her name Boyd shows father born in Ky HH 308 Lists Chockley King b- Jan 1837 in NC 63 yrs & Wife Kezzie Notice Chockley born in NC where as Boyd King 's father born in Ky I can't find Chockley King on the 1910 Harlan Co Ky Census index so he must be deceased ...but did find Boyd King & wife Lavina md 16 years she had 5 children 4 living and believe the daug age 3 shown on the 1900 Census must have died and I can't make out her name but these children only are listed 1910 Harlan Co Ky Cen they show Boyd living on Yocum and Clover Frk RD I have the 1880 Census for all state and could not find Boyd on it he would have been age 6 or 7 nor could I find Chockley where on earth were they? I also have the 1880 Cen for Harlan Co Ky and they are not on it..... but the 1880 Census in Harlan co Ky had a lot of missing names on it.. some say it was due to the fear of The Gangs that ruled there... I did find on the 1870 Census Chockley King age 37 and Kesiah age 23 one child Henry age 8 months You sure would need Boyd's Death Cert to prove up who his parents were or his marriage License..since the Pension paper do not list him as a child.. 3. One has to wonder why Boyd was not listed in the Pension Application. I am sure he is Chockley and Kissiah's child. Must be an omission. Charles br 21 Jul 1912 moved to Detroit,MI as a young man to work at Crysler Auto. H married 1st Florence ?? in Hyde Park,MI.He married 2nd Sharon ?? . His OBT lists six surviving children. Some of them are Sharon's from a previous marriage. I don't know who was fatheredby Charles. Charles retired to Naples, FL and lived there six years before he died 16 Apr 1982. He was brought back to Harlan Cty and is buried at Rest Haven Cem, Keith,Harlan,KY. There were twins born after Charles, but they died as babies. Felix and Louisana lived in the same house all their life, located at the corner of Old Hwy from Harlan to Dressen and King Hollar. The house was eventually torn down and a Used Car Lot was there for years. I haven't been back there for some years so don t know what is there now. Hope all this helps someone. My info comes from personal knowledge of each person, taped conversations, and official records from HC Courthouse.

I'm glad to gather anyone who can show relation to the King family. I'm hoping that if we get enough people sharing photos and documents, we can put together an accurate account of their lives and finally find out if there is any record of Cherokee ancestry in the family. We've all heard the stories, but no one has been able to find concrete evidence..... yet.
