This is what she has given me to work with. Her father was Steve Nichols married to Daisy Mitchell. I am trying to find information on her grandfather William Nichols. He was born in Virginia married to Sarah Minerva Emil Elizabeth Jane (all given names) either Fields or Pace. Sarah was first married to a Hensley . Their children names are Charity, Spart, Lindy (Linda), Enos, Arter, and Isaiah (Ike). William's second wife was Nancy Mills. William (I think) died in Knox Co., Ky. in 1958. I'm Trying to get a death certificate for him. I have a little information on the Mitchells but anything would be very helpful. I know this is a lot of names, but I'd be very grateful for any help. Middleton in Harlan Co, married to Mary/Polly Ann (Browning). The 1900 census says he was born in Jan 1873, and the 1910-1930 censuses are fairly consistent with that year. But I find no William T in Harlan Co in the 1880 census, and multiple Williams with other middle initials and birth dates. Can anyone tell me which William is the correct one? And if anyone has information on William and Polly's descendants, I would be very interested. I am researching on behalf of a great-granddaughter through William and Polly's daughter Emily, who married a Sexton.

Darlene: I have somewhere in my paper files the name of the family who took in Chockley and Jane's children after she died. In his pension application he states his first marriage was to Jane Astrop and she died in 1868. If memory serves there were more children than just the one son William. As for Boyd, we should look at more than one census to see where his father is born. Where does Lavinia say her parents were born? Darlene--check your 1900 census again. There is no Henry listed in the HH of Boyd and Lavina King. The children listed were Flaurance (Florence) born Dec 1896 and Samuel born July 1895.
