Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3AB.2ACI/6852.1.2 Message Board Post: Thanks to both Randy and Janette for their responses. Census (1850, 1860, 1870, 1880,and 1890 Vet Sched) all show Wiley and Sarah (Hendrickson) lived in Laurel County. He died in 1893 there. Other researchers have given the marriage date of Jan 4 1831 in Straight Creek, Harlan Co, KY but none of them that I have been able to reach have any documentation. Harlan Co Clerk says no records under those names. I've sent to Bell Co. Clerk requesting search since Straight Creek later abt 1840 or 1850 became part of Bell Co. I thought maybe all records were sent there. 'Tis a puzzlement! Still looking for 1830 and 1840 census records for Wiley. Thanks again for the effort and any other suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was able to take a visit through areas of Harlan. Was told that Bob & Bess had once lived in Buena Vista, which looked nothing like the area they had once lived. My dad, Don Neff told me later than one of his kids or nephews with a similar name had lived there. He also informed me at that time they had lived in Gulston, which I didn't get the opportunty to visit. Any idea where an area called Smith Mountain is in the Harlan area? Also, are you still friends with my Aunt Patsy Neff-Whitehead? Thanks for the information, Lisa

    3. If Joyce Collins has a lot of replies to the list it is because she knows to hit "Reply All" when responding instead of "Reply" as most of us are prone to do. And she is one of a handful of very generous people who have many resources at their fingertips and give willingly of their time. Those of us researching in Harlan Co. are lucky to have them. I know that Elva does not screen every message that makes it to the list before it is posted as it appears you are inferring. She may take care of a problem after someone breaks the rules which is just fine with me. If you have a personal problem with her, than please keep it personal. 3. Randy and List members, Do you have anything in your records that proves that Susan Holmes (b. 1834 in Wythe County, VA, d. Aug. 20, 1897 in Perry County, KY and married lst to Jonathan Witt December 15, 1851 in Harlan County, KY and 2nd to Greenberry Pennington May 6, 1871 in Harlan County, KY) was the daughter of Robert Stanford Holmes and Nancy Arminia Olinger? I need this information to apply for a supplemental DAR certification through Nancy's father John Christopher Olinger. I am also looking for any information that would prove that John Patrick Kelly (b in 1816 in VA and d 1861) was the father of Jonathan Kelly and that he served in the Revolutionary War. The only info I have on John Patrick is that he was the son of Laurence Kelly (b. abt. 1727 in Isle of Man, d. in VA and married to Annie or Nancy Hunter). Thank you, Wanda Lombardo
