I don't have a thing on this fellow other than his wife Virna Nemie Farmer died Sept 3 1005 her Sister Mallie -m- into my Pace's Virna Farmer-Walker b- July 19 1921 have not a clue Abt Joseph Clarence Walker BD Virna Walker Corbin, KY September 3, 2005 Virna Walker, 84, died Sept. 3, 2005, at the Christian Care Communities in Corbin. She was born July 29, 1921, in Harlan. She was the daughter of the late John Farmer and Pearlie Ledford Farmer. Walker was a homemaker and a member of the Grays Knob Church of God in Harlan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clarence Walker; a son, Alfred Walker; two brothers, Fred and Lester Farmer; and six sisters: Cassie Weaver; Roxy Jones; Thelma Fee; Nancy King; Mallie Pace; and Alice Farmer. She is survived by three sons: Paul Walker and wife, Ann, Harlan; the Rev. Herschel Walker and wife, Doris, Corbin; and Carliss Walker, Corbin; two sisters, Ellsie Stanton, Harlan; and Ella Roberts, Battle Creek, Mich.; two brothers; Olan and Howard Farmer, both of Harlan; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation was held Sunday at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Corbin; and at the Grays Knob Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at the Grays Knob Church of God with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. I still have a couple of copies for sale. The book was published in 1991 so it does not have any of the newer sites. Also the Annotated Southwest Cemeteries of HC book is also available from Kathryn Trail in Louisville. That book was published in 1989 so it only contains some of the earlier dates too. That book covers over 40 cemeteries from Fresh Meadows to the Bell county line. It is very informative. I think I have a partial list of some of the cemeteries in HC that was published a few years ago.. I will see if I can find it and publish that list soon---Janette Nolan

Resthaven Cemetery at Keith was published by Harlan Heritage Seekers and indexed by Janette Nolan. Janette, could let u know if there are copies available. I got mine from Thelma Creech, when I visited the Harlan Library a few years ago. Tap Roots was walked and recorded by Evarts High School Humanities Class 1987/88.This book is hard to find and covers the East Harlan cemeteries. Ernest Pridemore walked Evarts Memorial Gardens. RESPONSE: Hello, Sorry, I am not familiar with this particular family but I can give you some factual information which could help you. First, neither would have been born in either Harlan Co. or Bell Co. Harlan Co. was not formed until 1819 from parts of Knox Co. and at least one other county. Bell was not formed until abt. 1868. I checked the marriage records for Knox Co. and their marriage is not shown there under any spelling; however, as of the 1810 Fed. Census, they are physically listed in Knox Co. From the information provided in the census, they probably married around 1808 or 1809 at the latest. Check under "County Formations" at: http://www.usgenweb.org Then click on Kentucky and scroll until you locate it. 1810 Knox Co. transcribed page 20 FULKS, Elizabeth, female, over 40 years of age (I am simply making an assumption this is the mother of Gabriel) FULKS, Gabriel, male, bet. 16-25 . .Female, bet. 16-26 . . Male, under 10 (so could have been anywhere in age from a newborn up through 10 years) You need to check them out in the 1820 and 1830 to closer pin down the son's age grouping category. They are not in Knox as of 1820 and since Harlan was formed in 1819, would probably be found there. As of the 1850 Harlan Co. "annotated" census, what remains of that family is: Dwelling 3474 FULTZ, James, 22, b. kY (s/o Gabriel FULTZ and Leah) . . Emaline, 22, b. KY (nee WARD) . . Gabriel, 3, b. KY (would later marry Elizabeth McPHERSON) . .Catharine, 6 month, b. kY . . Leah, 61, "BORN IN TENNESSEE" (this is the widow of Gabriel FULTZ who died bet. 1843 and Feb. 1845 per the annotation). I also see in the dwelling next to them is Edward NORTH with wife, Sally/Sarah. She was also a daughter of Gabriel FULTZ and wife. Sorry, I don't know more about this family. Hi. I'm trying to get the surname of an ancestor, Sarah _______, who married Gabrial FULTZ about 1810 in Harlan Co. Sarah's surname might be HENDRICKSON. I'm researching Sarah and Leah Hendrickson. Sometimes, it appears the two are the same. At other times, I get the impression that Leah was Sarah's mother. Sarah was born about 1790-95 in Harlan Co, KY. (Might have been Bell Co. at that time?) I would love to know her maiden name, date and place of birth, parent's names, siblings, etc. if anyone has them. I'm hoping someone has this info in family documents, bibles, etc. It's so difficult to get the maiden names of the women! Without their maiden names, we can never know who our ancestors were. Then I rechecked the 1900 Harlan Co. and still there was no Green or Sidney HARRIS or Susan HARRIS listed. Perhaps you should return to your original posting and provide some additional information such as where you first do locate these folks on any census. Perhaps in that way, someone can work backwards. They may have been from elsewhere. On the free 1880 LDS census there are just too many Susan, Sue, Susie PARRISHs listed and the same is true for Green or Sidney HARRISs to tie them down to any one family. Please forgive me for upsetting you. It was not my intent. The story was told to me by both my Uncle Dave Evans (Son of James Earl Evans and Sylvia Jewell Ball) and arffirmed my mother Pat. While there may indeed be some sour grapes, IF there is a "lost Aunt" there are family member who would welcome her with open arms and pray for her often.
