We buried our mother Dec. 29, 1958 in or near Pathfork, Ky. We were told it was the Arnett Family cemetery. I remember it did in fact, have several old stones with the name Arnett on them. It was on a very steep hillside, visible from the highway and there was a small church in the general area. I do not re-call it having a posted name. Our grandfather, was buried there also, Sept. 2, 1978. I have not been able to find any information relating to the services for either one of them. (such as an obit). What would have been the local newspaper in that time frame? I am adding the following hoping it will be of help in answering my request. My grandfather, Abraham Arnett, born Dec. 11, 1880, died Aug. 30, 1978, (son of David Arnett and Sarah Miracle). He Married about 1903-04 in Bell County, Stella Helton Hensley, born 1880, died Jan.1913, (in child birth). Stella was born out of wedlock, (daughter of Sylvania Helton and Unk. Hensley). My mother, Elizabeth Arnett, born Feb. 5, 1911, died Dec.26, 1958. Married Jan. 18, 1930, my father, Carlo Brittain Asher, born July 5, 1882, died Feb. 22, 1962. Divorced 1943.Married (2) 1945 in Indiana, John R. Shelby. I apologize for the long message....Listing all the information made for a long query. .I thank you for any help or suggestion you might have. Maurine Asher Cooley

However, from census and some other records, I believe I do have some information on your mother's side of the family. First from the KBI, I found most of your siblings and the missing ones may simply be because of spelling errors or just not recorded. All births were in Harlan County to Thelma ESTES (but in some cases, the name is spelled incorrectly). The Fed. Census records go only up through 1930 so there will be no census records for them together. I think it is important for you to ask if anyone has a record of the marriage in Harlan Co. between Thelma ESTES and Andrew LANKFORD. There may be some parental info on this marriage record which will help you confirm some of what I am going to give you. You need to know that there are several Wiley ESTES out there running around in different time periods. I will tell you there is a Wiley ESTES on the 1910 Claiborne Co., TN Fed. Census who looks as follows but THERE IS NO WAY I COULD TELL YOU THIS IS YOUR WILEY!!! It might be and it might not be. Claiborne is very close by to Bell Co. and Harlan Co.'s though. Dwelling 197-220 ESTES, Wiley, head, 24, mar. 1, mar. 6 yrs, b. TN; parents b. TN . .Looks like Patsy??/ Saley??, __, b. TN . .Dicie, 7, dau, b. TN . . Ruthie, 5, dau, b. TN . .Paul??, 4, son, b. TN Living next dwelling is an older Calvin ESTES, age 56 with wife, Eliza and several older children. As of the 1900, I did locate Wiley or "a" Wiley ESTES in Claiborne Co. but not with Calvin but with someone whose name looks like Callaway or something like that and they live next to a Calvin ESTES so probably some close relationship. On the marriages for Claiborne Co., there is: Wiley ESTES to a Sallie ENGLAND in 1905, Book 7, Page 50 Again, I will tell you there are several Wiley ESTES around and this may or may not be the correct one. The marriage record for Thelma ESTES could very well give you more information. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA

    2. I need help finding the marriage of Joseph Roark and Elizabeth Hollinsworth/Hollansworth or any version of her last name between 1885 and 1900. I thought it would have been in Clay Co. but had no luck there. Joseph's family in in Harlan Co. in the 1880 census and Joseph and Lizzie are married in the 1900 census and living in Clay Co. In 1900 they are listed as being married 13 years which would place it around 1887 and their oldest child, Mary, is listed as age 12. I really appreciate any help with this one. Thanks, Jerry Philpot.
