VA Mother: Sally LEAFORD b. VA Informant: Allen UNDERWOOD, Clinton, TN Mary BROOKS is listed as a widow at the time of her death. There is also this death certificate; however, because it says he was born in Whitley Co., KY; I have no way to know if it is the correct John BROOKS: John W. BROOKS died: Whitley Co., KY on 5-28-1922 born: 9-7-1849 - Whitley Co. father: Thomas BROOKS, VA mother: Betty LAY, TN Married at time of death; informant: Edd BROOKS Although I don't know if it is him, there is a boarder living in Bell Co., KY at Hignite listed as: Patrick BROOKS, age 26; b. The Lynch /Harlan County, Funeral home records are now in the Ben? Cumberland funeral home. Her death was ruled a homicide. I am wondering if anyone knows the story. I believe she was the wife of a Bradley Howard. They are on the 1920 Harlan Co., KY census in the home of Green Howard. Also the death certificate says she was buried in the Howard Cemetery...haven't found that either. Darlene I don't know much of TN but do know the first three counties as you go down I-75 because this is where my wife's Webbs are from. First county as you go into TN from KY is Campbell. Next is Anderson and then Knox where Knoxville is located. The area where the border of Campbell and Anderson Counties is was a coal mining area in the very early 1900's. Now it is Lake City after the Norris Dam was built.
