The older one is Devil Jim Turner son of James Britain Turner and Elizabeth Clay. He spent some time in prison for killing someone. He married Sarah Jones. I think the second James is son of Mose A. Turner who is the son of John N. and Emily Jane Farley Turner. He married a Jenny D. All of these Turners were from Harlan County and moved to Lewis County, Washington in about 1900 or so. I didn't see any James married to a Mandy or Amanda in the Harlan County marriages or in my files. The first name of the Adams woman could have been Glenna Louise born about 1917 in Illinois or her sister, Elizabeth Jane (called Betty Jean) born in Illinois about 1921. I got the name Charles Cole from the obituary of Glenna and Betty J's father, Roy E. Adams, who died in Harlan, KY in 1964. This is where I type out the information contained on her actual death cert as posted by Ancestry.com. That death cert gives her birth date as 1861. Now I would be the first to say that dates of birth on census and on various documents can be off one way or the other. However, combined with the fact she doesn't even show up in the spring of 1860 when the census was taken fairly clearly shows she was born either in 1861 or in the latter part of the year 1860 after the census for 1860 was concluded. Personally I just think the 1858 date is inaccurate and I have no idea where it came from or what documentation anyone has for it. Even besides all of that, her mother is listed as a BALL and not a BAILEY on her death cert. I'm just stating this next from memory but I believe the 2nd marriage took place in 1859 so it does seem logical that the birth would have been in either 1860 or 1861. Haven't talked with you in a while. Hope all is well and that you are having a happy and healthy New Year. Of course, if her birth is correct in 1858, why she wasn't on the 1860 census is curious. I just propose this as a possibility. Not saying it's correct as I don't know for sure. I don't know if there are any Harlan County Marriage Records this early, but can someone look for Sampson H. Wilder son of Joseph and Nancy born about 1793 in Harlan County, Kentucky and Ann Estepp born about 1793 in NC. Her parents could be John Estepp and Mary Asher. They would have married about 1820 in Harlan County, KY. We are trying to prove that she is either Ann Estepp or Ann Uptin as we have Fuson's history that says Estep and a death record for her daugher Mary Wilder Miracle that says Ann Uptin. Thanks for any help. Barbara Turner

Joyce Thank you for your reply. I have extensive info on Roscoe Botts and on his second wife Bertha Thomas. but altho I have the birthdate, deathdate, and cemetary where Rosie Jeffers or Jeffires is buried at Egan , Tn., I have been unable to obtain a birth certificate, death certificate or marriage record for her and roscoe. Not knowing the exact spelling of the last name nor any family info other than she had two brothers Sam and Bill one of which died in Harlan circa 1929 or 1930 makes it so hard to recognize info even when I find it without some clear connecting link. I've searched census records to try and fird them in a general dwelling proximity, so far without success. Her short life and the scarecity of records prior to 1915 ,makes it more difficult to find records Thank You and God Bless You for your help. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, January 04, 2008 2:01 PM Subject: Re: [KYHARLAN] Fw: Jeffers, Botts RESPONSE: On the 1910 Campbell Co., TN (near Anderson Co., TN) there is an Alfred BATTS (corrected to BOTTS) Dwelling 97-101 with: BATTS, Alfred, 47, mar. 11 yrs, head, b.
