I might be able to find them if you know some of the names of the children. About what year was this? Do you know who Mandy married the second time? I didn't find a James Turner married to a Mandy in the old Harlan County marriages. I might be able to find out what Mandy's name is in the birth records with the children's names. We actually found the cemetery online he is buried in with several of his sons and their children. It was the Fir Lawn Cemetery in Toledo, Lewis County, Washington. In 1869, James Turner murdered his first cousin, David Middleton. David's widow brought a suit (here is the footnote) for damages which included a bill from Dr. A.C. Price for 'one bottle of medicine and dressing wounds,' an indication that the wounds were not immediately fatal. Davids's sister-in-law, Narcissa, states, "Shortly after the war James Turner publicly and in cold blood murdered David Mddleton my husband's brother for which he now stands indicted in the Harlan Circuit court, and for which the widow of dead David Middleton now has a suit pending for damage in the Clay Circuit Court against James Turner, being taken there by Turner on a change of venue and as my husband was attending to said suit and prosecuting said indictment it became a fact that his life should pay the penalty." At end of book it says: James 'Devil Jim" Turner was paroled on the 6th of August in 1890. He and his son Hiram went west to the state of Washington. Hi, I know how bad Devil Jim Turner was. I have been helping one of his great-grandsons find his Turners. I am slightly related to them through Rhoda Stewart who married first and divorced Hiram Turner son of old James and then she married George Howard Middleton. She is my great- great-great aunt I think. My line was James Stewart her uncle who married Elizabeth Tinsley. Their daughter Amanda Stewart was my great-grandmother. I have read all those things about Devil Jim Turner. Yes, I put that in my file. Holly Timm wrote an article about him on the Harlan site and she has the history of that whole Turner family which is very good. James must have got out the same time as Francis Pace. He went to live in WA about that time. Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit. She was born in Harlan County, KY on October 25, 1954, the daughter of Andrew Jay and Dora (Daniels) Senters. On April 22,1978, she was united in marriage to Henry Bell. Sherrie was an avid bingo player. Mrs. Bell was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include her husband, Henry Bell; three step children, Kenneth Bell, James (Suzie) Bell and Sonya Bell; six step grandchildren, six sisters, Rita Pratt, Barbara (James) Hill, Jennie Hornung, Andrea Senters, Robin Lindsly and Raejean Williams; nine brothers, Steve (Linda) Senters, Dickie (Leslie) Senters, Larry (Debbie) Best, Doug (Ruth) Jones, Mike Jones, Rick Jones, James (Susan) Jones, Danny (Susan) Jones, Homer Jones and Frank Alford; step mothers, Frankie Ellahi and Gerrie Jones; nieces, nephews, other family members and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and ste! p father, Homer Jones.
