JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON FRANCES FRYE FROM THE XENIA (OH) DAILY GAZETTE 2/21/08 Frances Irene Doan Frye, age 75, of Xenia, OH went to be with her Lord February 19, 2008, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Wallins Creek, KY, on March 4, 1932, one of 13 children born to Jarvis S. and Ella Maude (Howard) Doan. Irene was a member of the Northside Christian Church. Irene married Eugene R. Frye, Sr. on October 1, 1949. She was employed for over 25 years as office manager at the Gene Frye Insurance Agency, where she enjoyed working with her husband and son. She was very devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene R. Frye, Sr. in 1991; a son, Brian Edward Frye; and siblings: Milton Doan, Mary Elizabeth Blackburn, Rodney L. Doan, Marie E. Kovach, James C. Doan, Betty Lou McLaughlin, Jarvis S. Doan, and Margaret A. Davidson. Irene is survived by children: Debra (Steven) Leach of TN; Eugene R. (Laura) Frye, Jr. of Upper Arlington, OH; Conrad David Frye of Xenia, OH; A! dam (Mary) Frye of Boston, MA; grandchildren: Heather Frye, Jason Stafford, Jeffrey Stafford, Sean Stafford, Audrey Roach, Kathryn Bennett, Nicholas Leach, Danielle O'Brien, Chelsea Frye, Preston Frye, Hillary Frye, Henry Smith III, and AJ Frye; great- granddaughter: Bianca Roach; sisters: Lena Ruth Scott of Columbus, OH; Kathleen L. Moore of WV; Martha E. Farley of Xenia; and Linda S. Stewart of Ft. Wayne, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM February 22, 2008 at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 North Detroit Street, Xenia, with Pastors Gary Robinson and Isaac Flora officiating. Internment to follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends February 21, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. For a long time I did think her name was Tabitha but that spelling turned out to be erroneous also. Next he married Louisa (another Massengale). In 1911 he married Hattie/Hettie Hood. There is a record of marriage for a Hattie/Hettie Wigington to a John Hood in 1905. I'm not absolutely certain that the Hattie Hood who married Julian Reed is the same Hattie Wigington who married John Hood. But I'm thinking that is the case. Julian probably did not make it to the 1930 census but I can't figure out why I can't find a Death Certificate for him since he was alive as late as 1920. And I can't find a trace of Hattie after 1920 either. Speaking of Death Certificates, I do have those for Matt and George. But do I understand correctly that you found one for Nanie Reed Marshall?? NC; parents shown as born in SC is the w/o Julian/Julan REED as of the 1920 Whitley Co., KY Fed. Census. As far as I can see, Julan/Julian REED was in Whitley Co., KY at least back to 1870 where he is 28 years of age and married to a Tabitha. Same for the 1880. In the 1900, he is married to a Louisa/Luisa as well as on the 1910. So, it was sometime after the 1910 that he married Hettie. Either there was more than one Julian REED around or there was also a marriage at some point to a Delisha? MASSINGILL. I found several death certs for a Matt REED and a George REED and a Nanie REED MARSHALL, whose father was listed as Julian REED and mother was not listed or stated it was this MASSINGILL female. I also don't seem to be able to find a trace of Julian or Hettie after the 1920. At age 78, odds are that Julian would not have made it to the 1930 census and death records were all just not that well maintained as yet in KY overall. He lived at Rosspoint, HC KY when he registered and stated he was married around 1917. It appears to me that his father and mother were a: Ben F. or B. F. HOOD who in 1900 were in Lee Co., VA and same for the 1910. B. F. HOOD was a section Foreman which I assume was a railroad man. Shows that two of his children, Roger and John were b. in Missouri with several others born back in VA.
