My research has been at a standstill at John Lewis ADAMS for longer than I care to remember! He was supposedly born about 1811 in GARRARD County. Or he might have been part of that group that appeared from thin air we all seem to run into from time to time! In Trimble County, on 30 November 1831 he married Keziah A. CASEY, daughter of Stephen CASEY, mother unknown to me at this time. Keziah was supposedly born in MERCER County. John and Keziah's first five (est) children, Mary Jane 1832, Amanda E 1835., unknown name and sex 1837, unknown name and sex 1839, and Amelia 1841 were supposedly born in GARRARD County. The next child, James Horace (my husband's great grandfather) was supposedly born in HARDIN County 24 April 1843, and then John C. (or Q.) April 1845, George Washington 1848, unknown name and sex 1850, Sarah Martha February 1851 born in GARRARD County. Then in TRIMBLE County: a stillborn female December 1854, Thomas Reynolds 12 March 1852, unknown name and sex 1858 and Clara Belle 6 September 1860. The "unknown name and sex" children listed 1837, 1839, and 1858 might not even exist. They were suggested them as 'fill-ins' since it was quite normal for a woman of that period to have a child ever 18 months to 2 years pretty much like clockwork! Seems like a reasonable assumption to make. Mary Jane ADAMS married Walter AUSTIN who was born 6 May 1828 somewhere in Kentucky; his parents, whose names I have yet to discover, were born in North Carolina. Mary and William had seven children but I believe they were raised in TRIMBLE or CARROLL Counties. Amanda E. ADAMS married Robert T. LITER and they also had seven children in TRIMBLE County. I have not been able to discover any additional information on Amelia ADAMS. James Horace ADAMS married Melchisabeth BARNES, d/o William and Elizabeth (BEECH) BARNES and they had seven children in TRIMBLE County. Three of the seven died in December 1902 with days of one another from typhoid fever. The three surviving sons I have some information on but there was a daughter Lillie, who I have nothing further on and I would sure love to fill in the blanks on her! John C. ADAMS married Cassie J. SIMS and they had two daughters: Clara Helen and Augusta C. George Washington ADAMS married Sarah C. DUNN and they had seven children. (This George Wasington ADAMS is not to be confused with the one born in HENRY County 16 March 1938 who married Sarah Kathryn DUNN as that George was the son of Peter and Nancy (VINCENT) ADAMS.) It is interesting that both George Washington ADAMS married women named Sarah DUNN though isn't it? Or did they? Perhaps my Sarah C. DUNN wasn't a DUNN at all, or she might have been. Lots of repetitoous names in family history to be sure. Many uncanny things to make note of! Sarah Martha ADAMS married William C. PERKINSON, s/o Adolphus and Elizabeth (TULL) PERKINSON on 15 November 1870 in TRIMBLE County. Thomas Reynolds ADAMS married Louella Virginia "Jennie" WISE on 12 April 1877. They had two children: Lester Dale and Savador T. Thomas also married Grace Margaret GREEN and they had three children but I believe only one, Nettie Frances, lived through infancy or childhood. After Thomas's death, Grace married Victor COGHILL and had a daughter Grace. Victor had previously been married to Ida Catherine LITER, who was a great niece of Thomas's. Victor was the s/o John and Sarah (DURMAN or DIARMIT) so possibly someone who has been posting about the DIARMIT lines might have some additional connecting information they could share. It would certainly be appreciated. Clara Belle ADAMS married John William KING of CARROLL County, Kentucky and they had two of four children live. I have communicated with one of their grandsons to fill in that line. It seems once the ADAMS family moved to TRIMBLE County they married into many of the lines that are still there today and I have bene able to gather a good bit of info, but the parents of John Lewis ADAMS and his siblings continue to elude me, as do the siblings of Keziah CASEY as well as her mother. ANY and ALL help is much needed and appreciated! Thanks in advance to y'all! Dianna Gilliam justpeachy@greenhills.net
