    1. Carroll's of Louisville
    2. Pat Kramb
    3. Hi Jane, Many of my family left Hardin for Louisville, and some for Barren. I don't live in Louisville anymore, but returned this past fall to check out the great library and the cemeteries. I was absolutely stunned by how many graves had Tipperary written on them, and more specifically the surname Carroll. St. Louis Cemetery in particular. The Catholic Cemetery Office has computerized the name, place of birth, and death date for everyone in the local Catholic Cemetery. If you find a specific name, you can ask who bought the plot, and are there others in it? I got a few surprises this way. They are really nice at the office, but very busy. If you have more than one lookup, they request a written letter. St. Louis opened in 1876, prior to that it was St. Michaels for burials, and really there is no record of those, unless you can figure out the church, and go through the LDS. I have one record from the Hardin site, - Martin Hogan, born around 1835 according to the census, married Margaret Carroll in 1859. Charles Warren and a Cunningham were the witnesses. Later, my family lived in a house owned by a Cunningham in Louisville. My Hogan's and O'Meara's were from the same town in Tipperary. I know it involves the McCormack's, which is my main line. In a letter written about 1883, Frank McCormack writes to his brother Andrew that he is working for the Carroll's in Louisville, I think I figured out it was a tailor shop, owned with Brophy's. He kept jokingly referring to Mr.. Carroll as "O'Carroll of Carrollton", who has quite a story attached with him back in Ireland. I also had Howard's move into New Albany, Indiana, just across the bridge from an old area of Irish settlement. I see that you are in Evansville - I have family there still as well - the Greenwell's- and lots of them!! Jean
