Jean, Thanks for the reply. Very good advice for research in Louisville. I have never researched there but it sounds like I should check out their resources and, it's close enough to be a day trip. Looks like I also need to study the history of Louisville with regard to Irish settlements. Patrick Carroll, one of William Carroll's sons moved to New Albany, IN and lived most of his adult life there. I have been trying to locate those descendants - he had five sons so I'm guessing there must be descendants. Thanks for your help, Jane p.s. Steve Greenwell was my oldest son's saxophone teacher.
