Dottie, When a blood test is taken, can one blood test be used to find more than one family line? Sherrie
Hi Dottie and Sherrie, Dottie wrote: [KYHARDIN] HARRIS family ca 1800 Has anyone from the Hardin, Co KY HARRIS' had a male descendent who took the YDNA test? I had a relative take the test last year for the William Harris born in 1803 VA & wife Mary Dorsey born 1803 KY line. They lived in Hardin Co, Ky all their lives. Thanks, Dottie -------- Then...Sherrie wrote this reply: Re: [KYHARDIN] HARRIS family ca 1800 Dottie, When a blood test is taken, can one blood test be used to find more than one family line? Sherrie --------------------------- Now to Dottie's question first...then on to Sherrie's reply post... I am NOT the HARRIS DNA Coordinator...so I can't answer this one, but I am a HARRIS researcher in Col. VA...as well as in Hardin Co KY. Both regarding...two Sarah HARRIS's...and about 100 years apart. So far...we haven't been able to find my earliest Sarah HARRIS, who m. only once to Joseph JOHNSON circa 1740-1745, Goochland Co. VA. My 6x great grandmother sits here with only husband and children. We have no known parents, or siblings, and without even a clue. ;o( The 2nd Sarah HARRIS is on my lateral RICE line...as she married the son of John Mosbey RICE..older brother...of my Samuel Russell RICE. I'll list here briefly...what we have on this: John Mosbey RICE, b. 1773 Cumberland Co. VA m. 1793, "Lincoln Co. VA", Martha "Patsy" JOHNSON, d/o Noel JOHNSON CH: William, Tabitha, James, David, Samuel Laffle, John, Matilda and Sarah Their 4th child: .David RICE, b. 1800, Hardin Co., KY m. 1829, Sarah "Sally" HARRIS \moved circa 1830's...to Boone Co. MO David, d. 1886, Boone Co. MO David's older brothers, William and James, had gone to MO pre-1820 and then their parents...moved from KY to MO shortly after 1820. The rest of their siblings followed. Some en masse. Some later on ...like David and Sarah apparently did. So...when someone posts for HARRIS in Hardin Co. KY, I pay attention. If there's any way that we can help one another.....GREAT! *S* Now to Sherrie's post....... ------------ When a blood test is taken, can one blood test be used to find more than one family line? ------------ The answer to that is a very firm and unequivocal.........YES. *S* On this...I'm the DNA Coordinator for two projects, GRIMES & ROSSER, and an enthusiastic cheerleader for our RICE DNA search, which has ...FINALLY garnered enough to dedicate a new haplogroup, RICE #13.*S* It doesn't matter what part of the planet a DNA sample is taken... because geography has no bearing on anything. When there's another DNA sample processed...and it matches...then these two are notified. Once these matching participants are notified...then the comparing and sharing of family information....is very strongly encouraged. *S* Hopefully my reply will be of some assistance to both of you, Lisa Grimes ------------------------------------------------------------------ a descendant of: Samuel R. RICE, b. 1743-44 VA - d. 1813 LA m. 3rd wife, Sarah "Sally" STRATTON .Samuel Russell RICE, b. 1787 KY m. 1819, Martha "Patsy" CAMPBELL, in LA RICE DNA Haplogroup #13 ================================================================== -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
