    3. Hi Hardin County Listers, Is there anyone out there who are related to these famous Hardin County, KY Browns? I strongly suspect the James is our direct line relative but need more proof. Rereading some bios about Alfred L. Brown, thirteenth child of my Joseph Brown, it clearly states that Alfred was a nephew to Patrick and John. In Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, et al, it states (in the Dr. Robert B. Pusey bio) "In 1864, he married Miss Bell Brown, daughter of Alfred L. Brown, who is one of the oldest and most honored citizens of Elizabethtown, and a nephew of John Brown , who was killed in the battle of Blue Licks in 1780, and of Patrick Brown, a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1799, and son of William Brown who came to Hardin County as early as 1790." In Two Centuries of Elizabethtown and Hardin County, KY, Chapter A-25, it states that "at the battle of Blue Licks, August 18, 1782, James Brown was among those lost; his brother William recovered his body a few days later." I think one of these stories is accurate...but which one? We believe James Brown is the father of Joseph Brown. However, Joseph was born 1784-1787. If James died at the battle, that might eliminate him as our James Brown. However, if it was John who was killed..... If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Willing to share what I have.... Thanks, Kathie
