I'm hoping that I might be able to find someone on the list that can help me. I have located my g-g-grandfather, Rev. Raphael Knott, in the Howe Valley Methodist Cemetery, in Howe Valley. In trying to contact someone to get information about the history of the Methodist church (as I believe my ancestor was one of their circuit ministers at the turn of the century and a little later), I have run into one road block after another. It seems that the cemetery is quite large, and is listed on the maps for the area, but I cannot find a telephone listing of a church or anyone with which to get information from. I called the Elizabethtown, KY operator and had her looking for about ten minutes before she said the only thing remotely connected was Hardinsburg Memorial Gardens. Does anyone on the list know how to get in contact with someone from the cemetery, as well as the church that was connected with it? Did the church merge with other churches and take on another name? Or did it die away, and I need to look within the records of the United Methodist archives? Is Howe Valley Methodist Church considered part of the UMC, or another Methodist denomination. I'm really stumped here, and would love to hear any input on how to solve this problem. Thanks.... Dana (BrieSkate@aol.com)
