Above land deeded to us by JOhn Miller & Mrs Sally Suvura (Seward) & bounded as: John Millers 120 acre survey being part of John May & Co 8000 (actually 800) acre survey; [does not describe land beyond this]. John C. Ray & Ann Ray recorded by E.H. Haycraft, D.Clk 9th day of April 1838. Book R; pg 147-148: 25 Apr 1829: Alexadner Merrifield to Thomas Durbin- both of Hardin. $800 for a certain lot or parcel of ground adjoining the town of Hodgenville& was conveyed to Alexander Merrifield by Conoe C. Blinco & wife and the other Nathaniel Whitehead and wife. Nathaniel Whitehead lot butts to William Conway line. Alexander X (his mark) Merryfield recorded 25 Apr 1838 by George M. Montague, Deputy Clerk of Hardin Co. Book R, pg 148-149 22 Oct 1836 Nathaniel Whitehead & wife Margaret to Alexadner Merrifield $100 a certain lot or parcel of land adjoining the town of Hodgenville and being part of the Mill tract. No names mentioned in description of land. Nathaniel Whitehead; Margaret X Whitehead. Margaret Whitehead the wife of the above named Nathaniel Whitehead being examined and apart- etc. relinquished right of dower. [ end of record- not a complete record- was not copied by Melissa of the Hist Soc Lib in the Brown-Pusey House in E-town]. Book S, p 292: 26 day of Apr 1839: Archibald Adams of Grayson Co to Alexander Merryfield of the other part of the Cunty and state aforesaid- for $10 to me the said Adams in hand paid--- convey to Alexander Merryfield 9 feet of lot No. 12 to include the chimney of the house in which James Redman now lives. Archd Adams recorded by Saml Haycraft, Clk 23 Dec 1839. {Alexander already owns Lot #11 where James Redman lives) Book S, pg 446: 5th Feb 1840: William Price & Samuel Merrifield; both Hardin Co; William Price stands justly indebted to Samuel Merrifield sum of $300 lawful money of Kentucky to secure which the said William Price hath granted, sold- articles of personal property to wit: 3 head of horses, 3 head of cattle, one clock, one bed bedstead and furniture two saddles, one kettle, one ove, one tea kettle one pai andirons, one plough and gear & etc. on the condition that William Price will and truly pay or cause to be paid to Samuel Merrifield the aforesaid sum of $300 within twelve months from this date then and or tha case the above obligation is to be null and void otherwise to remain in full force . William Price Test: H.P. Helm recorded 8th day of April 1840 by Samuel Haycarft, Clk [William Price married Elizabeth Merrifield]. Book U, pg 212: 30th day Dec 1840: William cessna of Hardin Co to Alexander merrifield of the same Co & State. $200 tract or parcel of ground on the little South fork of Nolin; bounded by Charles M. Thurston's corner; May & Co line; 150 acres. William Cessna test: Edwin H. Turner John Duncan recorded by Samuel Haycraft 7th day of May 1842. That is all the records in the books. There may be a later book with more land records in it. Will have to see if any more 1842- 1855 in Hardin Co. Plus check probates for Thomas Merrifield with wife Maria as Adm & any others I can find.
