Friday, May 22, 1908 Miss Frankie Howard, daughter of Mr & Mrs Charley Howard of near Tunnel Hill & Alonzo Allen, son of Mrs. C. W. Ray of near Stithton, were married yesterday in the new Catholic Church in Vine Grove. Tuesday, June 9, 1908 Louis Pace, brother of Mrs. J. A. Howard of Upton, died at Plattensburg, La. from appendicitis. Mrs. J. A. Howard of Upton received word on Thursday of the death of her brother, Louis Pace, at Plattenville, La. He died of appendicitis. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Pace of Monroe, Hart Co. Friday, July 3, 1908 Prof. and Mrs. J. A. Howard were called to Monroe on Wednesday by the death of Mrs. Howard's sister, Miss Mayme Pace. Miss Pace was 24 years old. (Upton News) Tuesday, July 28, 1908 Mrs. W. T. Pace of Monroe, Hart Co., died at her home after a long illness. Was the mother of Mrs. J. A. Howard of Upton. This is the 3rd member of the Pace family to die within 6 weeks. A brother died in June and a sister in July. Was the wife of W. T. Pace, who holds a position in the L & N at Dividing Ridge. Tuesday, August 4, 1908 Mr & Mrs J. C. Howard have returned home to Upton from Monroe. Mrs. Howard's father, Dr. W. T. Pace, is a doctor at Monroe. Friday, August 14, 1908 Miss Bessie Howard of Summershade visited her uncle, J. A. Howard of Upton. Tuesday, September 8, 1908 Upton Institute opened last Monday with a large enrollment and with Prof. J. A. Howard as principal and Henry Slinker as assistant. Friday, September 25, 1908 Thomas Morris died at his home in E'town yesterday from heart disease and other complications at the age of 76 years last June. He was a bricklayer by trade and came to E'town in 1870. He raised a large family of children in E'town and didn't leave E'town until they were grown. He then moved to Paducah and returned to E'town about 6 years ago. Member of Methodist Church. Sur- vived by wife and the following children: Mrs. Nettie Howard of E'town, Rev. Thomas H.
