Christopher Bush, Sr., was born about 1730 in Holland or Germany. He m. Hannah _____ in VA, and came to KY in 1780 with Capt. William "Indian Bill" Hardin, with his young family. He made his final settlement in the area of Elizabethtown, Hardin Co., KY Christopher Bush made his will February 24, 1812 (Will Book B: p. 31 - #75). He died at his farm home in the early part of 1813, and his will was Recorded 8 Feb. 1813. His appraisal was 8 Mar. 1813. Appraisers: Samuel Haycraft, Thos. Swan, Daniel McNeil, and Geo. Helm. I, Christopher Bush, of Hardin County and State of Kentucky calling to mind that all men must die and being desirous to provide for my loving wife and amply as my little property will admit of and also wishing to do equal justice between my children and conceiving that I have already given to all my children except Christopher and John, their full share of my estate both real and personal and being desiours that my two sons by name Christopher and John shall be secured in my estate equal to what I have given to the rest of my children who have left me, namely my sons, William, Samuel, Isaac, Elijah and my daughters, Hannah Radley, Rachel Smallwood, Sally Johnston. Do by these present make, ordain and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made or declared as my will. "It is my will and desire that first all of my just debts be paid. It is then my will and desire that my loving wife, Hannah, have and fully enjoy unmolested for and during her natural life the plantations whereon I now live and all farming utensils and also all household and kitchen furniture, 2 horses or mares, the choice of all I have, and four cows her choice. It is my will and desire that my said wife hold, keep and enjoy them forever or give and dispose of them as she may think proper. It is further my will and desire that after the death of my said wife that the plantation and farming implements be equally divided between my two sons, namely Christopher and John, also all my stock and debts due me not heretofore disposed of after my just debts are paid. "It is further my will and desire that all the balance of my land not heretofore given to my children be equally divided among all my children either by dividing the land or selling it and dividing the proceeds as they may agree. It is my further will and desire that my sons William, Samuel, Isaac, Elijah, and my daughters Hannah Radley, Rachel Smallwood and Sally Johnston have $1. each paid out of the sale of the stock left to my sons Christopher and John or that Christopher and John do pay the above named William, Samuel, Isaac, Elijah, Hannah, Rachel and Sally their full share of my estate except there should be any land not heretofore disposed of and should there be any such land it is to be equally divided between my children.
