Gus Lewis of St. Louis, after 2 years absence, visited his parents, Mr & Mrs John T. Lewis at Rineyville. Mrs. Martha E. Lewis die in Brandenburg on Saturday. Was a sister of Hon. D. W. Farleigh, the noted Louisville attorney, and sister-in-law of the late Chapeze Wathen, formerly Commonwealth's Attorney in this district. Friday, January 15, 1909 Mr & Mrs E. C. Scott of Louisville visited her daughter, Mrs. C. C. Lewis of East View. Friday, May 7, 1909 Mrs. M. W. Whayne, died Tuesday at the home of her parents, Mr & Mrs E. C. Lewis, near East View on Tuesday. Died of a complication of diesease. Funeral at the Baptist Church at East View yesterday. Her husband is a Baptist minister at Kingsland, Ark. Barnett of Owensboro, were married in Louisville yesterday. Groom is a merchant in Owensboro. Tuesday, June 9, 1909 Dr. Thomas D. Greenley died Friday at the age of 90 years of compli- cation of diseases at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Louisville. He made a vow that if Henry Clay was defeated for President, he would never shave again. He had a flowing white beard. He was born Sept. 20, 1818 near Baltimore. Was the son of a Maryland planted, an Englishman, who came to this country shortly after the Revolutionary War. Married Miss Brady. Worked on his father's farm until 18 years old when he came to Louisville to take up newspaper work. He began the study of medicine at the age of 23 years in the old Medical Dept. of the University of Louis- ville and graduated in 1844. Two years after graduation he married Miss Eliza Ann Lewis of West Point, Ky. She died 3 years ago. About 1844 he began to practice near West Point but soon moved to Meadow Lawn. Survived by 3 daughters and a son, J. C. Greenley of Greenville. Friday, July 9, 1909 Mrs. Ada Roberts of West Point, wife of Will A. Roberts, died July 7th of a tumor of the stomach. Member of Baptist Church. Was the daughter of Bluford Lewis of West Point. Survived by husband and a child, aged 4, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Wm. Barnett of Owensboro and Miss Lena Lewis of West Point. Burial in Bullitt Co. Mrs. Fanny Lewis and daughter, Miss Emma and Miss Alice Swan visited Miss Fanny Lewis. (Vine Grove News) Friday, July 23, 1909 Nicholas Lewis of West Point died at his home on July 22nd of cancer of the stomach. Was 50 years old. Survived by wife and 3 children. Fun- eral was conducted near Cupio in Bullitt Co. today. Miss Iva Wortham of near Glendale visited her uncle, T. M. Lewis and family and other relatives. (East View News) Miss Nettie Taylor of Louisville visited her cousin, Mrs. Fannie Lewis of East View. Friday, July 30, 1909 Miss Lena Lewis of West Point visited her sister, Mrs. W. T. D. to visit her sister, Mrs. Emmett Lewis for two months. Tuesday, August 17, 1909 Rev. Rupert Foster & Miss Lewis of New Albany will marry Aug. 25th. The groom is the minister of the Christian Church in West Point. Tuesday, August 24, 1909 Mrs. Wilford Lewis of Louisville had a 10-pound daughter born recently. Baby is the granddaughter of W. H. Bunger. Friday, September 10, 1909 J. S. Moorman visited his daughter, Mrs. John Lewis of Rineyville. (Vine Grove News) Tuesday, November 2, 1909 Mrs. Eliza Platt Lewis of Louisville died at her home on Sunday from cancer of the stomach. Was 60 years old and a cousin to Mrs. S. H. Bush of Elizabethtown. Tuesday, November 9, 1909 Learner B. Stith, who went to Stithton to Ca. a number of years ago, died in Ca. Member of John Morgan's command during the war and a brother of J. C. and Robert Stith and a half brother to Mrs. James Lewis. Was 65 years old. Survived by wife and children. Friday, November 12, 1909 David Lewis of Nalls Valley visited his aunt, Mrs. Fanny Lewis of Vine Grove. Tuesday, November 30, 1909 Herman Lewis, the 15-year oldest son of J. W. Lewis, died at the home of his grandfather, J. W. White of Big Clifty, yesterday of pneumonia fever.
