    1. DNA William Harris 1803 Hardin Co. KY
    2. Dottie Brentlinger
    3. Julie, It is extremely easy but usually requires a male descendant. The female can test but the time period is more distant. Also the cost is more. The company sends two vials and each has a small swab that you run over the inside of your cheek. Then take the swabs and put back in the vials and send them off to the company. I though it would take 6-7 weeks; but the test came back in less than month. The cost varies, for 12 markers like we had, is $101.00 and the 24 marker cost about $275(not sure). I read up on all the pros and cons before deciding to go ahead. The test doesn't tell you how you are related but that the markers are the same for the person you matched. These sites explain much better than I. www.blairgenealogy.com/dna/dna101.html and www.familytreedna.com/trs_gendist.html are good sites to explain how it works. I hope these work, I never know. I went thru Familytree. KY Dottie, How does this DNA matching work? Do you give your own blood sample to the research? I'm actually not sure I'm a blood relative. I think I only carry the name through marriage as my Harris line got a little sordid through the years. I actually don't know for certain if my father was an actual blood born Harris, but I know for certain my grandfather and most of my father's siblings were.
