Penelope Ann Lancaster: Born in Marion County, Ky. on Sept. 15, 1849 and died in Hardin County, Ky. on February 2, 1931 at eighty-one years of age. Affectionately known as "Neppie", she was educated at Nazareth Academy in Nelson County, Ky. After graduation she married Charles J. Cecil in Hardin County, Ky., his place of residence, on August 17, 1869. The groom was born on March 5, 1846 in Hardin County, Ky. and died in same on July 3, 1904 at the age of fifty-eight years. He was one of the five Cecil brothers who founded and operated the Cecilian College in Hardin County, Ky. Charles J. Cecil was a descendant of the original Cissell family who emigrated to Kentucky in 1788. The subject and her husband made their place of residence in Hardin County, Ky. and were members of the St. John Catholic Church there. They eventually raised a large family of nine children on their Hardin County farm near Cecilia, Ky. At their deaths they were interred in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County. Their nine children were as follows: 1. William Lancaster Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. on June 5, 1870 and died in the same on Sept. 21, 1897 at the age of twenty- seven years. He married ca. 1895 Olivia "Livia" E. Wedden, who was born on Sept. 30, 1873 and died at seventy years of age on March 11, 1944, in Daviess County, Ky. They were both buried in the St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky. Their only known child was as follows: Haffey Wedden Cecil born in Har- din County, Ky on February 8, 1897 and died unmarried in the same on February 2, 1920 at the age of twenty-three years. She was buried in the St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky. 2. Elizabeth Lancaster Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky on August 12, 1872 and died unmarried on October 20, 1971 in Jefferson County, Ky. at the age of ninety-nine years. Known as "Betty", she worked as a registered nurse with the U. S. government for many years in Louisville, Ky., where she made her last home and at her death was interred in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky. 3. Charles Oliver Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. on October 15, 1878 and died in the same at the age of sixty-one years on January 27, 1940. He married in 1900 Ruth E. Moorman of Leitchfield, Gray- son County, Ky., who was born on September 27, 1885 and died in Hardin County, Ky. on August 18, 1984 at the age of almost 100 years. Employed for many years as a main master for the Illinois Central Railroad Co., the subject, along with his wife, first lived in Leitchfield, Ky. and finally at Cecilia, Hardin County, Ky. At their deaths, the subject and his wife were buried in the St. James Ca- tholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky. They were the par- ents of two children. 4. Owen Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. on November 20, 1882 and died unmarried in same on September 21, 1902 at the age on nine- teen years. He was interred in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky. 5. Catherine Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky ca. 1885 and death unknown. She reportedly married C. C. Cates, after which time they resided in St. Louis, Mo., becoming the parents of two children. 6. Thomas Geoghegan Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. in 1885 and died in Jefferson County, Ky. on March 4, 1966 at the age of eighty one years. He married Sarah Elizabeth Young, the daughter of Bryan Young and Minnie Stovall of Elizabethtown, Ky. Sarah Elizabeth Young was born in 1891 in Hardin County, Ky. and died in Jefferson County, Ky. on July 5, 1980 at the age of eighty-nine years. The subject was for many years employed as a conductor with the Illinois Central Railroad Co., at which time he resided with his wife and family in Louisville, Ky., where they were members of the Holy Spirit Catho- lic Church on Lexington Rd. They made their last address at 304 Cannons Lane. The subject passed away in the Hillcreek Manor Nur- sing Home in Louisville, Ky., and his wife died fourteen years later at her home on Cannons Ln. At their deaths they were interred in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Ky. and were the parents of seven children. 7. Nancy Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. ca. 1887 and died prior to 1962 in the State of Texas. She married Hugh Robertson, after which time they became the parents of one child. 8. Eleanor Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. ca. 1890 and death unknown, most likely in Texas. The subject became the wife of G. M. Doles, after which time she and her husband moved to San Antonio, Texas. They became the parents of two children. 9. Penelope Ann Cecil: born in Hardin County, Ky. on July 17, 1892 and died in same unmarried on November 21, 1962 at the age of seventy years. At the time of her death she was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Hardin County, Ky. She was buried in the St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Hardin County, Ky.
