Debbie, Tax records gave different info for different years but all included the tax payer, amount of land if any, the water course that it was located on or near. Early years included who originally entered, surveyed and patented the land being taxed, value of land. They would be taxed on livestock,, coaches, carriages, billard tables and retail stores and slaves also. Some would list the number of free males over 21 in the household. In 1795 the free while males 16 and over was put on the tax record. Also the kind of land, 1st rate (cleared land) 2nd rate (cleared with some woods) or 3rd rate (all woods) was listed in the early records.
