Don't forget, if your ancestors were in the Hardin Co. area before 1790, look in the Nelson Co., KY, minute books which listed head of household males within a certain militia district which were eligible to serve in the militia. I think the militia age requirement was 16 years during the 1787-1790 time period. Can someone on the list confirm that the militia age was 16? If there was another male in the household who could serve in the militia, their names were not given but the list indicated that there was another male in the household over age 16. For example, the name of Bladen Ashbey appears in the 1787 Nelson Co. KY minute book in the "Pottinger-Bear" district with the number "2" after his name. That's how I understand the minute books. Can someone on the list give a better description of the contents of the minute books or expand upon what I have said? I hope I got it correct. Helen Graves
