    3. Larry, I would have to make a possible case against Mayhew having been married to a previous Mary before Mary Polly Patrick, for the reason that Polly Cary, born about 1785, has the name of Polly, which would make perfect sense that her first name should be her mother's middle name. So another thought, is that her age on her death certificate is wrong, and the only way we can find that out is to see if there was a birth recording of her around 1785 or after 1791. Another thought is that if the marriage date wasn't wrong, it could be that they lived in a common law marriage, being they were probably in very back country, until they could make it official in 1791. Or, Mayhew actually was married to another Mary. However Mayhew, I don't think is my John Mayhew, because he was born in 1807 and he had an uncle named Mayhew (also spelled Mayhugh) who was the brother of James, my gggggrandfather, and both were sons of Samuel who is our most common ancestor in the Harris line that I have been able to figure out. It all seems to go back to Samuel, whose wife was Phoebe Fulkerson. However, it may go back a generation earlier if none of you are direct descendants of Samuel, but of a brother or cousin of his. I'd like to know who has traced their direct Harris line to Samuel as of yet. My line goes like this...Me, Julie Keyser, Father David C. Harris, Grandfather Witten William Harris, GGrandfather William Ward Harris, gggrandfather William McMahon Harris, ggggrandfather John Mayhugh Harris, gggggrandfather James Harris, ggggggrandfather Samuel Harris. How does everyone else line up?
