Friday, October 16, 1896 At Stanford on Oct 8, Mrs. Mary Jane Helm, nee Logan, mother of Rev. Benj. Helm, died. Was of Scotch-Irish an- cestry, who settled in Salem in the valley of Va., whence her grandfather, John Logan and wife, nee McClure, mi- grated to Ky. and settled on Logans Creek, about 2 miles below Sanford. Two of John Logan's daughters married Paxtons, of this county. Her father Wm Logan and wife, Sallie Perkins, settled in Barren Co, where he was many years clerk of the Court. On Sept 11, 1838, she married Henry B. Helm of Elizabethtown, where she lived over 40 years. After his death, she made her home with her only surviving child, Rev. Ben Helm. The remains were brought to Elizabethtown. Funeral services at the Christian Church and burial in the family burial ground at Helm Place. May 13, 1898 Mrs. R. W. Perkins of Grand Rivers, Va., visited her sister, Mrs. J. J. Hayburn of Hardin Co. Friday, November 17, 1899 T. Holman Perkins of Hart Co., President of Farmer's Deposit Bank of Horse Cave, died of heart failure at his home near Three Springs on Friday. Was 67 years old. Survived by wife, Mrs. Bettie Devers, and 4 children, Harl Devers and Mrs. John Perkins of Louisville, George Devers of Hardin Co. and Charles Dever of Lyons Station.
