Helen, According to Two Centuries in Elizabethtown and Hardin Co., Ky., by Daniel McClure: "There were three Jacob VanMeters living n the Severn's Valley community at the one time, the elder, Jacob (Sr.), his son, Jacob, Jr. and Jacob VanMeter, the son of Henry VanMeter, the elder brother of elder VanMeter's brother. To relieve the confusion, the elder VanMete(Sr.)r was called "Valley Creek Jake" and his nephew, "Miller Jake," both men operating mills in the Valley."
