Hi Julie, Here is a marriage record of John A. Harris in Hardin County and is about right for the family whose first child was born in 1840. Also, I check the census again John A. was born about 1807 I needed to magnify it, not 1805. Mize house # was 9 and John A. Harris was # 11 Jacob was # 44. A Plat map of the county and township would tell you exactly how far away they are from one another. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9-15-1839 Book B Page 65 STEPHENS JANE and HARRIS JOHN A00-00-00 from the Hardin County web site. John was over 21 years of age and Jane was the daughter of Elizabeth Stephens who gave her consent by certificate for her to marry JOHN. Elizabeth Stephens who signed it wrote consent on September 12 1839. After looking at the census again Isabelle was 1 year older than John. So Jane could have been his first wife and died in child birth after the first child as there is 4 years between the first and second child and then Isabelle was the second wife and died after Ezra was born and Elizabeth was his third wife. Boy can I muddy the waters. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- He may have changed his middle name or maybe Isabelle didn't know it, which is very possible. Isabelle could have died in Childbirth as she was 44 and then he married Elizabeth just a thought. The family didn't go to Iowa until 1849 and to Gentry County MO. until 1856 according to William's writings. I am just going through this and taking a piece at a time. William said that they lived with Jacob for 2 1/2 months. ---------------------------------------- Jacob Lived in Perry Township, Davis County, IA 1850 United States Federal Census > Iowa > Davis > Perry 19 44 44 Harris Jacob 38 M Farmer 500 Ky 20 44 44 Harris Eliza J 34 F Ky 21 44 44 Harris Susan A 14 F Ky x 22 44 44 Harris Harriett A 12 F Ky x 23 44 44 Harris William B 10 M Ky x 24 44 44 Harris Matilda 7 F Ky x 25 44 44 Harris John O 4 M Ky 26 44 44 Harris Richard W M -----Original Message----- From: David & Julie Keyser [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 6:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Re: [KYHARDIN] Some Marriages In Hardin County, Kentucky, 1793-1815
