Hi Nena, Well, what you sent me over is very interesting. The Samuel Brown who is yours and the father of Silas Burkes Brown, married Tabitha Carter, the sister of Susannah Carter who married my direct line ancestor, Joseph Brown, son of James Brown and Mary Matchett. Joseph and Susannah Carter Brown moved to Spencer County., Indiana. Two of their children's names were Oliver and Daniel, although Daniel was only 12 in 1836, Oliver was born in 1812. It is possible that there were other Browns in Spencer County, whose names were Oliver and Daniel. That is something we will have to investigate. But I have been trying to tie Samuel Brown to our family for a while... Anymore documents like that??? Thanks! I do not know if this will lend any assistance at all but at one time we had thought Silas Daniel Brown was a son of Samuel Brown......?? Not even sure if its same Samuel Brown.......but will post below the tidbit of info I have in case anything clicks........Nena ================== I recently found this court case against a Samuel Brown in "Abstracts of the Records of the Courts of Quarter Sessions, Hardin County,Kentucky,1792-1801" by Roberta Hofmann. Does anyone know who this Samuel Brown is.??? "Coy, William (similar notes for each of the men involved): 6 August 1800.William Coy, Thomas Davies, George Rust, Genithen Brendenburg,and Ellendor Shakles were summoned to testify in the Samuel Brown case." "Brown, Samuel. 24 June 1800. James Fowler accused Samuel Brown of stealing a "trowel(?) that had had its ends worked so that they were round at each end to cut out anything hollow." The constable ordered Brown taken. 27 Jun 1800. Brown has escaped jail twice and another order for his arrest was made. *See document in this volume."* ** Note: there is a scanned picture of the document in this book. Jackson, John (similar notes for each of these men). 5 August 1800. John Jackson, Josiah Aults, and George Linsey were summoned to appear in the trial of Samuel Brown. There (sic) were under a l00 pound penalty if they did not appear." There is a Samuel Brown next to my James Brown in the tax records of 1795 Hardin Co. and I think Samuel belongs to James (child perhaps?). I know that John Jackson married a James Brown daughter, and also Crady's and Coy's married into family (well, that might not say much -since everyone married into these families...). Hello, Does anyone know who the William Walker who married Jane Husted, 31 Oct 1798. Surety Jesse Husted. Hardin County Marriages by Jones. It looks like maybe Jane died early because William Walker married 5 Jan 1804 to Nancy Kennedy. Daniel Kennedy, girl's father,gae written consent; witnesses John Walker, Stephen Kennedy. A17. Thanks!
