I want to thank Janice for such a fast response to my query - where is Shot Pouch Creek? It is in Breckinridge Co. Helen in Calif.
In 1786, 500 acres of land was granted on Shot Pouch Creek (grant wording says located in Jefferson Co., VA). I am going blind trying to find Shot Pouch Creek on a modern KY atlas. Per the wording of the grant, it was located on the boundary of John Hardin's land. Because of the wording, I suspect the creek might be in Hardin Co. or in today's Nelson Co., but I simply cannot find it. Is there anyone on this list who has a map of KY streams who could tell me where Shot Pouch Creek is? Or who knows where John Hardin's land was located? I am finding landmarks (Hardin Springs, etc) in eastern Hardin Co. near the border of Breckinridge Co., but I can't find any stream called Shot Pouch Creek. I need to know the location of Shot Pouch Creek so I can determine in which county records to look for a deed selling this land grant between 1786 and 1811. Any help would be appreciated.
I have some information on the Fields family from Hardin, LaRue, Hart and Green Counties. Which line are you working on? Martha

There's not a Hardin Co. Ky marriage for Mothershead on the county site. You might try Bullitt Co for a marriage as there are many Mothershead families there. They intermarried with Harris families. There are a lot of Fields males on the Hardin Co clerk's web site. www.hccoky.org -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of schappell@indy.rr.com Sent: Friday, June 09, 2006 5:06 PM To: KYHARDIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYHARDIN] Marriage lookup Please? Hi Carolyn, Thanks for clearing everything up! You are certainly the expert. Sorry I had some things messed up. And I knew that James Brown, Jr married daughter of Henry Ash and Rachel Devers.... Okay, I am jumping in here to clear up some of these lines since the Ash, Brown, Crady, Castleman, LaRue, etc. are all my lines. First of all Nancy Brown, listed with Reubin Ash in the 1850 LaRue Co. census is not a daughter of Zaddock and Mary Crady Brown. She is a daughter-in-law, the wife of James Brown (b 1829). She was Nancy Atherton Goodin and md. James Brown Aug 24, 1850 in Hardin Co. I have found that the second daughter of Ruebin and Mary listed as Eliza and Elizabeth Ann. I think it was probably Elizabeth and they shortened it to Eliza. She married Harrison Crume in 1856. The M J Ash (1847) in the 1850 LaRue Co. census is Martha Jane Ash who died in 1854. The C A is Catherine (Kate)A. Ash (1849) who married John B Jackson. ( Yes, Kathie this is the same Jackson line that marries into our Browns) I descend from Reubin and Mary Crady Brown Ash's daughter Lydia E., who married James Wm LaRue. Nancy Ash (b 1801) who married James Brown, Jr.(b 1780) is the daughter of Henry Ash and Rachel Devers. This Henry Ash (married 2nd to Elizabeth Brown) is the father of Ruebin Ash who married Mary Crady Brown. Ruebin and Mary Crady Brown Ash are my g g grandparents. Ruebin Ash who married Elizabeth McGrew is believed to be a brother of Henry Ash, who married Rachel Devers and Elizabeth Brown. Hope this clears up some of these lines. It is confusing since they all intermarry with each others famlies and the names are repeated the next generation. Carolyn > Hi Dave, > > Here are my notes: > > 1. Hi Dave, I only had one marriage for him - but his wife Elizabeth died before 1809. So that is an indication that he married again... Here are my notes for Reuben: !BIRTH, DEATH: information from James McKinney <jamesmckinney@netscape.net> also (from RootsWeb Family Tree) Also from PRF records NOTE: an Ancestral File submission gives Reuben's death as 17 Aug 1804??? MARRIAGE: 19 Apr 1787, Nelson, Kentucky as in this Ancestral File above. Note: in an old email from Cecy Rice, this family went to Harrison County, Indiana Email from Claudette: John and his son, John, (also known as Jack) both took preemptions in Nelson Co., KY for 1000 acres in 1776. (According to Cecy Rice). Cecy is a descendant of Reuben Ash, son of John Ash (died 1799). !Information given to me by Claudette Fulkerson (Sally38@webtv.net) in an email. "John Ash, born 1721, was an early settler in Nelson Co., Ky. I believe he came there from North Carolina. I don't have his first wife's name. She and her baby daughter were killed by Shawnee Indians about 1780. My ggg-grandfather born 1770 was captured by the indians when he was ten years old. Captured the same time as his mother and sister. His name is George Ash. he lived with the indians for 17 years. Hear are the names of his brothers, John Jr called Jack, Reuben, Sylvester, Joseph, Henry and Abraham. I believe there was another brother named Benjamin who died young. I have their birth dates but, will need to look them up if we can establish a connection. Some time or other all of these brothers were captured by indians. They were all close in age. The Henry Ash you speak of could very well be a son of John Ash. By the way, I missed another son named Issac. Issac and Abraham became indian traders and married Indian women. More later. Claudette" Ancestral file has large family for Reuben and Elizabeth McGrew Ash Here are notes on Elizabeth McGrew or McGrue !BIRTH, DEATH: information from James McKinney <jamesmckinney@netscape.net> (from RootsWeb Family Tree) Also from PRF. IGI Records: - one (with BEP) gives father as Simon and Martha McKnight McGrew - b. 1763 of Kentucky - another gives parents of Joseph and Sarah Graham McGrew - b 1765, died before 1826 in Kentucky. Can't tell if either one of these is the correct one. Not really wanting to jump into the fray as my Crady/Coy research is years behind me, but: Sina Lena Crady, b 16 Sept 1859, LaRue Co., to Daniel Crady and Margaret Ellen Crady, married John M. Castleman 28 Dec 1882, and died in LaRue Co. 1 Jan. 1945. Sina Lena Crady b 1 Nov 1826 in Hardin Co. to David Crady Jr and Nancy Coy, married James William Rivers 15 March 1846 in Hardin Co. and died 25 Dec 1916 in Perry, Kansas. Sina Crady, b 1863 in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Ebenezer Crady and Sarah Elizabeth Leeman, married John Loar, and d. 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas. Then I have a Sina B. Crady, b 1863 to an I. Crady . This I. Crady first appeared 1880 census for Leavenworth Co. High Prairie Township pp.30. Wifes' name was Isabel. He had two sons and a daughter. Their names were: J.I. Crady born 1852, J.D. Crady born 1856, Sina B. Crady born 1863. I. Crady was born in Kentucky, as were his wife and children, and he was a farmer by trade. I have this I. Crady as a son of James Crady and Mary Coy. I have no documentation for this particular file. I do not know if this Sina Crady is the same as the one previously noted as being born to Ebenezer Crady, as I have not researched this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are my notes on James Crady above: >From THE EDLINS: Migrated to Kansas between 1850 and 1858; listed on rolls, "Register of names of members of the Church of the Messiah Meeting at Little Stranger, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, organized Feb. 7 1858." Also in this list of members are: Lina Crady Rivers, Sarah, Aaron and Royal Devers. This Sarah is not Sarah Crady, but would be the Sarah that married Benjamin. James Crady brings to three the number of Richard Edlin's grandchildren who came to Kansas: Sarah Edlin and Richard Edlin are the other two. Information from State of Kansas Historical Society James Crady moved to Kansas from Kentucky between 1860 and 1862. Lived in Stranger Township in Leavenworth Co. and was married in approximately 1848. Of this marriage there were three sons: Ebenezer, born in Hardin County Kentucky in 1827, I. Crady born 1828, and John born 1831. Last record of James in Leavenworth Co. census is in 1865. In the 1870 records there is no mention of this man or his family. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some of this information is documented through death certificates, etc. Wanda Ridge ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Lee" <davidhilary@cox.net> To: <KYHARDIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2006 8:43 PM Subject: Re: [KYHARDIN] Samuel Brown Case >I have a Sina Crady b. 1863, Leavenworth, KS d. 1953 Kansas City, KS- d/o >Ebenezer Crady & Sarah Elizabeth Leeman m. 9 Aug 1848, Hardin Co. > Dave > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <owllady2@juno.com> > To: <KYHARDIN-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2006 12:43 PM > Subject: Re: [KYHARDIN] Samuel Brown Case > > >> Doris, >> Thanks! >> My Sina Crady, though, was b. 1859 in LaRue >> to, I think, Daniel and Elizabeth Crady.
