Dave, I was in Frankfort last week searching for tax records on my Peters of Hardin, Meade. I did seee Pearman-I think it was spelled differently, though-on quite a few records around early 1800's. You might want to check out-Kentucky Archives off Connector Rd. on Coffeetree Lane. Carol Anderson

I have seen the maps and read about the Little York community in northern Hardin County, now Meade County. I have minimal anecdotal data to suggest that the Little York township in the 1820s included the communities of Sonora, Upton in southern Hardin Co., and the eastern/southern parts of what is now LaRue County. Are you aware of any reference to suggest what the boundaries of the Little York township of 1820 Census are? To me it seems inconsistent to have Little York as a township to include communities in both northern and southern Hardin County to include what is now Meade (to the north) and LaRue (to the south) counties.

Would Harrison Co., IN be a likely place that they would have gone? Jane
I believe it was still true in 1940. Harrison Co., IN was west of Louisville, KY. Harrison Co., KY is south of Cincinnati, OH so closest IN counties would be Switzerland or Jefferson. I am not sure of Ohio law so they might have gone there. The age of consent in Indiana was 13 while anyone under 21 needed parents consent in Kentucky. This cause a bunch of people to cross the river to marry. Boats were easier than wagons on a muddy road.
