I found this on Immigrant SWANK/SCHWENK: Jacob Schwenk or Swank, b. 1698, Regensburg, Switzerland, died in PA. He married Catherine Bilz, b. 1702, Regensburg, Switzerland, d. PA. Their dau. Elizabeth, b. 1740, Regensburg, Switzerland, also d. in PA, m. Valentine Ettleman (d. 1810, Bedford Co., PA.) Elizabeth and Valentine Ettleman had a daughter Catherine b. 1765, PA, who m. Daniel Benner, and they went to Washington Co., MD where both died in 1853. Descendants went from MD to PA, to OH, and points west. I also have Balthasar Schwenk or Swank, immigrant, who d. 1763 in Maxatawny Twp., Berks, PA. Wife was Anna Margaret. they were parents of JOHANNES/JOHN SWANK who m. 28 Nov 1769 in Berks Co., PA, Rosannah Summit, and they went to Hardin Co., KY. I tie to their dau. Susannah who m. John Roll, 25 Dec. 1800, in Hardin Co., KY. I haven't made a connection of Balthasar or Jacob, but there could be. Donna
This is MOST interesting to me as my husband descends from Jonas. I would be interested in learning how you found John Swank listed as Schwenk? This is a fascinating discovery. Could you share that with us? Lorna Hibbs

Deborah Sorry for not answering sooner. Yes I would like a picture of St Clair's. Joshua Friend and Rhoda Caldwell did it appears have a daughter named Mary. She was born in 1834ish according to census records. Could this be the Mary in St Clair's records??? It also appear I have found Joshua Friend's father and mother, Jesse and Mary "Polly" Hanks. I found Joshua's death recorded in Meade county. He may be buried in St Patrick's. His death bed baptism and death are recorded in the church records. Hello List, Looking for info about John Edmonson and wife Sarah "Sally" Abell (d/o Peter Abell and Lucy Carman?) married about 1787 in Nelson Co Ky (I think). Their daughter, Nellie Mary Edmonson married Henry Keith on 8 July 1814 in Nelson Co KY and I believe that they lived in Hardin Co KY for many years but I can only find Henry on 1830 Hardin Co census. Is anyone researching these families? Very probable that any or all of them moved to Bartholomew Co IN in the early to mid 1830's. Also looking for info about Henry and Nellie's possible sons, Daniel Walker Keith (ca 1824 KY-1901 Coffey Co KS-my 3ggrandfather) and Warren Cash Keith (Aug 1818 Hardin Co KY-May 1892 Yolo Co CA). Hi Rita, Brown list, Hardin list and Nelson list: The Mullens sent me this information during the summer; however, I did not have time then to post it. The History of Coles County, Illinois, 1879, pp. 638-9. Has had two reprints: 1969 and 1999 and you can buy it from Coles Co. Gen. Society. BROWN BROS., RICHARD AND DANIEL, farming, stock and road grading and ditching; P. O. Humbolt; are natives of Nelson and Hardin Cos., KY; they were born Dec. 22, 1826, and July 22, (sic) 1832, respectively. They were born on the farm, and have always followed farming; they lived in Kentucky until the fall of 1854, when they came to Illinois, and settled about ten miles south of Charleston, where they lived about three months; they then moved on the Springfield road, in Douglas Co., where they lived one year, when in 1856, they came to the present place, and have lived here since. With the exception of a term as Assessor by Richard, they have held no office, except connected with the school and road. Richard Brown married Miss Elizabeth Morrison, of Kentucky, Sept 23, 1852; she died Nov. 7, 1860. They had five children, two living, viz, Sally Ann and Mary Jane. His present wife was Mrs. O'Bannon, formerly Miss Elizabeth Ann Bridwell; they were married Feb 16, 1862; they have two children, viz. Ida B. and Richard Alonzo. He owns over 200 acres in this township, which he has earned by his own labor and management. Daniel Brown married Miss Mary Morrison, of Kentucky, Dec. 3, 1853. They had seven children, five living, viz., John P., William A., Susan T., James H. and Alburtis R. He owns over 200 acres in this township, which he has earned by his own labor and management. Brown Bros., Humbolt, Ill.; all kinds of grading and ditching done; estimates furnished. Hope some Brown benefits from this bio! T'warnt mine..... Kathie
I will be videotaping the Ft. Knox documentary tomorrow, Thursday the 14th, at 10:30 EDT. At present there are eight people on the round-robin list, one of whom has already said she will buy a copy if it's available -- and as you can see from the forwarded message from ATHS, it will be! So if anyone else who sent me their address decides to do likewise, just let me know, and I'll strike your name from the round-robin list. Thanks! Linda Koenig Louisville, KY
In a message dated 9/13/2000 12:59:35 PM Eastern Daylight Time, info@aths.com writes: << Ancestral Trails Historical Society Ancestral Trails Members In Action: Documentary on KET examines unique history of Ft. Knox and the communities it displaced Known throughout the world as the site that guards the United States’ gold depository, Ft. Knox is a place with a history as rich as its holdings. Over the course of five decades and two World Wars, as the necessity for military training facilities heightened, Ft. Knox grew to its present size of 100,000 acres or 170 square miles. Yet as the army facility expanded, once thriving communities—situated in the heart of some of the state’s choicest land—were lost. The Land Called . . . Fort Knox, airing Thursday, Sept. 14 at 10:30/9:30 p.m. CT on KET and Saturday, Sept. 16 at 10:30/9:30 p.m. CT on KET2, documents Ft. Knox’s growth and explores the history of the many Kentucky communities, including Stithton, Garnettsville and Pitts Point, that dotted the land before the base’s major periods of expansion in 1918, 1940-41 and 1951-52. Almost nothing of these small towns remains except their cemeteries. Yet, producer-director Cory Lash illustrates how the spirit of these communities survives even today through local citizens—such as 99-year-old Agnes Rice—who visit gravesites of their relatives on Memorial Day. On this one day each year, the army base is opened to the public so that descendants may visit the lands that their parents and grandparents once called home. Several ATHS members appear or are heard in the program, including Gary Kempf, Agnes Rice, Clifford Culver, and the voice of Paul Urbahns. Producer Cory Lash is making copies of this video and the previous special on US31W, in which numerous members appeared for sale on VHS for the following complete with a library style hardcover case. The cost of each half hour program will sell for $7.95. Shipping and handling will run $5.00. The entire tape and handling will cost at $12.95. To combine both Fort Knox and Route 31W on one tape or as two separate tapes when purchased at the same time will be $19.95, including shipping and handling.
