    1. [KYHARDIN] WIMSETT / MCCOLLUM Marriage about 1888
    2. Steve Forester
    3. Hello listers. I am new to the list. I am hoping someone can help me with the details of the marriage of my great-grandparents, Mary Alice McCollum and James Robert Wimsett, in about 1888. In the 1900 census for Nelson County, they reported that they had been married for 12 years. But they were not married in Nelson County, so I thought I would try Hardin County. Mary was born in 1861. Because she was 27 in 1888, she MAY have been married before. James was born in 1841 and had been married two times before, first to Millie Boon in 1863 and then to Eleanor Thornsberry in 1866. I am hoping the details of this marriage will provide me with the names of Mary's parents. James often went by Robert, and I have seen his last name spelled in many ways, including Winsett, Wimpsett, and Wimsatt. Mary may have gone by Alice, and I have seen her last name spelled in many ways as well, including McCollom, McColm, and McCallum. If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it. Happy holidays to all!!! ===== Steve Forester Michigan Foresters steveforester@yahoo.com (313) 562-6232 858 Nightingale Dearborn, MI 48128 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [KYHARDIN] Picture of Kirkpatrick Mill
    2. Lynne
    3. I found a nice book called "Images of America Hardi and La Rue Counties 1880-1930" by Carl Howell and Don Waters. There is a picture of the Kirkpatrick Mill c. 1909. Later it became known as Mather Mill. The mill was established by Gabriel Kirkpatrick, Jospeh and Eleanor Friend Kirkpatrick's son. It became known as Mather's Mil after Cary W Mather, Joseph's son in law who succeded in it's management and ownership. It's located about 2 miles from A. Lincoln's birthplace on the south fork of Nolin River. The book has many pictures of the older homes and businesses in the counties. It would be worth the search at your library to get. 1. [KYHARDIN] ADAMS
    2. dianna gilliam
    3. My research has been at a standstill at John Lewis ADAMS for longer than I care to remember! He was supposedly born about 1811 in GARRARD County. Or he might have been part of that group that appeared from thin air we all seem to run into from time to time! In Trimble County, on 30 November 1831 he married Keziah A. CASEY, daughter of Stephen CASEY, mother unknown to me at this time. Keziah was supposedly born in MERCER County. John and Keziah's first five (est) children, Mary Jane 1832, Amanda E 1835., unknown name and sex 1837, unknown name and sex 1839, and Amelia 1841 were supposedly born in GARRARD County. The next child, James Horace (my husband's great grandfather) was supposedly born in HARDIN County 24 April 1843, and then John C. (or Q.) April 1845, George Washington 1848, unknown name and sex 1850, Sarah Martha February 1851 born in GARRARD County. Then in TRIMBLE County: a stillborn female December 1854, Thomas Reynolds 12 March 1852, unknown name and sex 1858 and Clara Belle 6 September 1860. The "unknown name and sex" children listed 1837, 1839, and 1858 might not even exist. They were suggested them as 'fill-ins' since it was quite normal for a woman of that period to have a child ever 18 months to 2 years pretty much like clockwork! Seems like a reasonable assumption to make. Mary Jane ADAMS married Walter AUSTIN who was born 6 May 1828 somewhere in Kentucky; his parents, whose names I have yet to discover, were born in North Carolina. Mary and William had seven children but I believe they were raised in TRIMBLE or CARROLL Counties. Amanda E. ADAMS married Robert T. LITER and they also had seven children in TRIMBLE County. I have not been able to discover any additional information on Amelia ADAMS. James Horace ADAMS married Melchisabeth BARNES, d/o William and Elizabeth (BEECH) BARNES and they had seven children in TRIMBLE County. Three of the seven died in December 1902 with days of one another from typhoid fever. The three surviving sons I have some information on but there was a daughter Lillie, who I have nothing further on and I would sure love to fill in the blanks on her! John C. ADAMS married Cassie J. SIMS and they had two daughters: Clara Helen and Augusta C. George Washington ADAMS married Sarah C. DUNN and they had seven children. (This George Wasington ADAMS is not to be confused with the one born in HENRY County 16 March 1938 who married Sarah Kathryn DUNN as that George was the son of Peter and Nancy (VINCENT) ADAMS.) It is interesting that both George Washington ADAMS married women named Sarah DUNN though isn't it? Or did they? Perhaps my Sarah C. DUNN wasn't a DUNN at all, or she might have been. Lots of repetitoous names in family history to be sure. Many uncanny things to make note of! Sarah Martha ADAMS married William C. PERKINSON, s/o Adolphus and Elizabeth (TULL) PERKINSON on 15 November 1870 in TRIMBLE County. Thomas Reynolds ADAMS married Louella Virginia "Jennie" WISE on 12 April 1877. They had two children: Lester Dale and Savador T. Thomas also married Grace Margaret GREEN and they had three children but I believe only one, Nettie Frances, lived through infancy or childhood. After Thomas's death, Grace married Victor COGHILL and had a daughter Grace. Victor had previously been married to Ida Catherine LITER, who was a great niece of Thomas's. Victor was the s/o John and Sarah (DURMAN or DIARMIT) so possibly someone who has been posting about the DIARMIT lines might have some additional connecting information they could share. It would certainly be appreciated. Clara Belle ADAMS married John William KING of CARROLL County, Kentucky and they had two of four children live. I have communicated with one of their grandsons to fill in that line. It seems once the ADAMS family moved to TRIMBLE County they married into many of the lines that are still there today and I have bene able to gather a good bit of info, but the parents of John Lewis ADAMS and his siblings continue to elude me, as do the siblings of Keziah CASEY as well as her mother. ANY and ALL help is much needed and appreciated! Thanks in advance to y'all! Dianna Gilliam justpeachy@greenhills.net

    3. Anne I have been to the public library in Elizabethtown. It is a small library. I did stop at the Brown/Pusey Home and did some research. I haven't made it to the Media Center at the Community College yet. I keep forgetting about the time difference!!! And I get there just about time for the doors to close. I did add what I had to the Brown/Pusey Home library at the time on the Caldwells. I need to update it next trip down. I'm hoping those Akers descendants will add their information too. We can't build an information base if we don't share Lynne Ditmore &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Genealogy: I think my ancestors have be in the witness protection program!!!! &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

The Nelson County list is in limbo. If I am wrong, please correct me >> I own the Bullitt County list so I will be posting each surname to this list with the email addy's of those researching the name, we will also have open discussion on each surname I've collected, a chance for everyone to share the info they have on that name. I will announce to the Jefferson, Hardin, Nelson and Spencer County when the book is finished, and I will offer it a number of ways, I can send as an attachment, I will give permission for anyone who wants to post to their web site to do so. I have had requests for a printed version, so I will offer this too the printed version will be $10.00 and a floppy Disc $3.00. This way anyone wanting a copy is able to get it the way they want it. The Bullitt County list is HIGH VOLUME so it won't jam email when I send it there, if the List Owners of the Nelson, Spencer, Jefferson and Hardin County lists want to post to there lists I will be happy to send copies to them as an attachment and they can post. (just send me email and let me know if you want surname book by attachment) Hope this clears up the confussion on the Surname Book I'm doing. Brenda

    3. What I need is John Caldwell's probate. There is no will, no burial records and no newspapers for the time span. He died between Nov 10-dec 10, 1824. I found that in the Day Order Book. His widow remarries to Campbell Sutton in 1832. I have all his children and at least one generation forward, except the unknown girl marrying the unknown Brantley. I am looking for a William Sutton (married in 1837) who married Elizabeth (John's daughter). She died a widow and no children mentioned in Simpson co in her brother's 8 side home in Franklin KY. Some of the Akers have gotten daughter Elizabeth Caldwell Sutton confused with her mother Elizabeth (Austin/Rhoda Thompson) Akers Caldwell Sutton. And this is the kicker Elizabeth (the mother) son Andrew Jackson Caldwell married an Elizabeth Akers!!! Do you have access to the deed index for Hardin county?? The years 1800-1860. I want to locate the 100 acres and go down and take pictures this spring. Most of the family trailed down to John Caldwell's half brothers in Logan and Simpson. They are the ones who had the Caldwell saddle shop, tannery and gunpowder manufacturing until about 1810 to 1836. Then it went in the hands of in laws and nephews. 3. Barbara, I don't do heavy duty research for others. I can do a friendly look up. If I'm already in the county I just watch out for the names, copy and mail. At this point I can't charge, we all want to know the past and I ready don't want to charge if it means someone is finding leads to their family's past. Unfortunately, I didn't get a start in genealogy until most of the person's who would have a hint to past life's were gone. My Caldwell line left Hardin and Grayson cos. in the 1850's for Simpson and Logan cos. My line is (at least 90%) is buried in the Franklin City Park. There is one stone to mark the site. Their old burial ground was donated to the city in the 60's. It was so run down nothing remained. I will never know for sure who is and who isn't buried there.
