    3. Photo suite does not support tiff files. You must have a tiff viewer like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If Photo Suite is your default viewer it will never open the file. You can also just right click on the link that says "Document Number 1" and click on save as and you should be able to choose to save it as something other than Tiff. 3. I have saved many of the documents to my computer. When the window opens that says "Document Number" (this is actually a link) click on it and if you are using Windows XP default settings, it will open in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Once it is visible to you it IS ALREADY DOWNLOADED ON YOUR COMPUTER! Simply look down at the bottom of the window where you will see various icons to rotate, enlarge, etc. One of these icons is the save icon. simply click on it and rename the document to something easier to remember than the random alpha-numeric it is assigned by the Clerk's Office. The copies are free and there is never a charge unless for some reason a document loads as "preview not available". Then you must contact the Clerk's Office and they will send you a copy for a nominal fee. I was able to get a will of 5 pages for something like 3.00including postage, I don't remember the exact amount. 2. When I right click on the document it brings up Quick Time. So I went into it's settings and enabled the .tif file application. I thought I had it. Still doesn't work. It has to be some conflict with the settings in the computer, but I haven't figured it out yet. If I find anything that works I will pass it along. Peggy

Some folks get real irritable when the conversation leaves genealogy. When I changed the setting on Quick Time, it gave the option to "apply." It didn't say I had to restart the computer, but I wonder if that would work. I'm gonna try changing the settings of Quick Time again and then rebooting the computer to see if it takes. This really has me stumped. I used to download tifs all the time from the University of Virginia Library, but that was an older computer. Guess the improvements on my new computer didn't really improve anything. Peggy

    3. Hi Rochelle, What is really fun is a trip to Salt Lake Library!! But we can access a lot through their FHC. I am a volunteer librarian at our local one... Well, Carolyn is a very knowledgeable expert in the genealogy of Hardin, Nelson, LaRue County. And a prolific writer of very important genealogical materials. I am happy to call her a cousin, through the ever-elusive Brown line... 2. I see everything, but can do nothing about it. How do you get it to even say; save or open, I have yet to get that? It will be a treasure trove of info if we ever get it working for us. 2. I tried shutting down, no different. I wonder if some have a program or ISP that handles this differently. 2. I am using XP. I was looking for marriage info. I went to the Brides Name box and put her last name in, then did the same in the Groom's Name box. The only document showing was Marriages (what I wanted), clicked that, then Begin Search. When the documents came up the one I wanted was there so I clicked the Icon. When I got to the document nothing came up to click for downloading it. In the File menu the Save or Save As were nonfunctional. I thought perhaps by typing out what I have done someone could tell me where I am making a mistake. This is a great site and would love to make use of it. Also, thank you all very much for helping me learn.
